Take into account Amir played last year with plantar fasciitis .   I'd rather him over Mozgov every day of the week, last year and this year healthy.

One thing we all need to realize we have a good playoff team, if there are no fireworks, but we make solid drafts, good free agent signings and continue to develop current team we will only get better.  I'd hate to gut team for a Howard etc like player.

You mean for a star who could potentially make us a contender overnight?

DHoward is not the star you are looking for.  (Said in Obi Wan voice)

He would be a big upgrade at center for us.

The guys Bulpett mentioned are almost akin to raising the white flag.

Just think, if they strike out on Durant/Horford/Howard etc and lose Turner because someone overpays him (now looking likely) the Celtics are a WORSE team in 16-17.  Spin that one to your fan base Wyc....

Mozgov off the board now.

Still have Pao, Noah and Mahinmi or we can just keep Amir.

We would probably be able to sign somebody to replace Turner (like Dudley), but that player would have to be productive in limited minutes - we have Jaylen and Rozier to start developing. Smart would likely take Turner's role, but his minutes will probably remain the same.

The front court shouldn't change too much - we can keep Amir and JJ if all else fails. We would need to replace Sully, which is no small loss, but hopefully Mickey is ready to step up with some extra minutes. We should at lest sign somebody close to Sully's caliber for a huge one year contract.

Not replacing Turner's ability to score off the dribble will cost this team 10 wins...and none of those guys you mentioned will replace that.  He's the only guy on the team above 5' 9" who can do this.

With the present roster, he's the difference between finishing over or under .500.

I will give a TP for that because it's true. Turner took over many games at the end with scoring or assisting when the offense was really stalling. Jared Dudley is NO REPLACEMENT for Turner. Dudley is a good bench guy to come in to provide a little offense if someone sets him up. He doesn't create. Turner will really be missed unless Rozier can really step it up and play under control.

That's only if no one on the roster can step up to fill his role.  If Smart/Rozier/Jaxson/Hunter/Brown can't do it, it's better to learn that now.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and say none of those guys will do it next year - or the year after that.  Obviously we don't know what we have yet with Brown.  Point is Turner's best skill is very under appreciated.  It will be more appreciated when they keep blowing leads in the 4Q because they can't get a decent shot off - or at least anything besides a 3.

thats a lot of wins man.

Smart Brown Rozier and the rest wont be as good as Turner, but they will be close enough that a 6th man doesnt cost 10 wins.

Im also worried about replacing Sully. He was so bad in the playoffs that I think a lot of people forgot how important he was for much of the season.

Turner was not even close to 10 wins for us, that's all-star level production.

He was closer to a replacement player.

That may be true but this is pretty clearly a case of needing to take a step back to take take two steps forward.  There's no way we were going to move up to contender status with Turner playing such a huge role.  If he didn't have to have the ball all the time to be effective, it might be different.
