Like a lot of people, I was pretty darn happy with these two picks..

By my count, we have 11 roster spots filled if we pick up JJ and Amir, but we let go Zeller and Sully.

Assuming no trades and no FAs sign, surely Bentil and Jackson could be in line to fill the deep bench with Minimum Salary.. Bentil may even see decent minutes if Zeller, Sully both leave. That still leavees space for two FAs...

What say you, high on Bentil going into the deep rotation?

I couldn't believe that either one of these players fell where they fell. Bentil can score in a variety of ways and play 2 positions. We didn't have a pure point guard and Jackson is exactly that. I would've preferred a veteran ball handler but this will do. I think both of these players stick on the roster but transactions will have to be made.

When does the C's summer league start? It's going to be an exciting one, isn't it?! Best one I can remember.

Think both Bentil and Jackson will get the full Mickey treatment and not play despite lighting up the D League. Could see Bentil sneaking his way into the rotation during the final 30 games of the season to rest the starters. We have a roster crunch but we also couldn't really ask for better injury insurance.

To get 2 max players I believe we have to let go of most of the non-core vets which means  JJ, Amir, Zeller and Sully and then backfill with rookies and/or sign some vet minimums.

I think there is a reason they were drafted that late.

Not more than benchwarmers on our deep roster, which hopefully gets deeper with free agency.

I will be surprised if they even make the roster. The o,ly rookie I can foresee making the 15 man roster this year is Brown.

To make room for Bentil and/or Jackson I wouldn't be surprised if Danny doesn't cut someone and do what he did last year where he let Perry Jones go while absorbing his contract. Although, that might not be necessary. According to TrickyB it looks like we have room for them if we don't resign Sully and Tyler....looks encouraging.

I didn't remember this but when the Celtics were on the clock for #16, Bilas was talking about who is left on the board the Celtics might want and he was already mentioning Bentil. To be fair, he said "It's probably too early to take him here" but he was already thinking about him and the C's got Bentil at #51.

I'm hoping I get to see some of him this season.

Orlando summer league starts on Saturday (July 2nd). When do we usually find out the rosters?

Edit: No team in Orlando this year but one in Utah (starts July 4th) and Las Vegas (starts July 8th, our 1st game on the 9th).

My bet, Bentil will be playing overseas.

Jackson, he legitimately fell to us, 1st round talent (in what is supposed to be a bad draft but w/e). If he makes the team, one of Smart/Rozier will be gone. Otherwise, I imagine we trade him in whatever trade we're gonna do. We're not going to carry 4 point guards. Probably. Almost certainly.

Why?  So we can keep mediocre players like Zeller, Jerebko and Sully?  Today, I am feeling like the team should move forward even at the expense of wins this upcoming season.

Bentil's game reminds me of Carl Landry's. He'll provide good competition for Mickey and hopefully one of them turns out to be a decent role player on a contending team.

doesnt bentil have to take a number and wait behind mickey before being freed? ha, ha...so, is bentil this year's "mickey" for this board?

just an idea, but maybe we could wait until we see some of the newest celtics actually play in a nba game before demanding too much.

No one is getting freed until the C's make a trade to clear up some of the redundancy on the roster. We don't need both Jackson and Rozier, both Young and Hunter, and we don't need all of Sully, Jerebko, Olynyk, Bentil, and Yabusele. Package 3 of these guys together for one solid contributor and I'll feel a lot better about the roster.
