Celtics have indicated they will not aggressively pursue Howard.
Only if the price is right.
Danny Ainge is not stupid.

I saw that.

Very pleased to see that. This whole thing has a distinct Gin Baker feel to it.

May be the best thing Ainge has done in the post-season.

I ask, what exactly has Ainge done?

Drafted Jaylen Brown, who might turn into something.

Beyond that, your point is well taken.

After the dreadful boston bruins traded Seguin, I have never watched another Bruins game.

After this weekend it will be the same with Ainge. Enough is enough

the bad times make the good times better. if you think Ainge is leading us into the Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ter, then stick with us lol. that way in 20 years when some new GM takes the reins and leads us to the promised land itll be 10x better.

Think 2004 Red Sox WS.

Don't question other Celtics fanhood, its against the rules and only leads to flame wars.

Dwight Howard would put this Celtics team in the Eastern Conference Finals and a player away from being a legit contender.

The key to signing Howard and/or Horford is to make sure, no matter what, that you still have room next year to add at least another max guy or two. If you sign both Horford and Howard this year, you have to make sure one is on a 1 and 1 deal so you retain the right to have that cap space next year.

I agree. Last thing you want to hear is, well he wanted a third year or he wanted 25 mill and we offered 24..

Make a Move!

That is the ONLY contract I'd have any interest in Howard on. You need an out.

I wouldn't mind a slightly longer deal if it were for $10-15 million, since that would also leave us max cap room next year, but if he's looking to get the full $31 million max I'm not even sure I want him in a 1+1 deal
I'm bitter.

As longvas it is a 1 and 1 deal and the Cs retain the option to end it after a year, I could care, less what Howard makes just for next year. Get some more growth, wins and a deeper playoff run. The Cs arent winning a title next year. They have to look to be being contenders in 2017-18 and I dont think Howard would be in the Celtics future beyond just next year

So, you think Danny deciding not to make this move would be a good decision? How is that any different from people that are glad Danny didn't sell the farm for Butler or give up our best pick in decades for a year of Noel? Given your disdain for Danny not making those moves and condescension toward people who thought it was a good move, I'm confused by the seeming change of heart
I'm bitter.

The Cavs were adding finishing touches to a title contender.  You spend what you have to spend to get you over the top.  In our case, we're nowhere near the top and thus, need to spend our money more wisely because what we spend today may very well lock us into non-contention, rather than contention.
