I think our situation currently is most reminiscent of that.  Russell was gone. The Celtics weren't going to get a superstar so they drafted Dave Cowens to go with the coach who wanted to play a high octane up tempo style. 

We can still make trades and go after stars but Jaylen was brought here to go with  Brad Stevens for the same reasons.

Jaylen was most definately a Brad Stevens pick.
