He won't win Rookie of the Year...unless something totally out of the blue happens.

But I can't wait until Jaylen throws down those vicious first dunks on Simmons' and Ingram's heads!

Two points is two points but it will still be a lot of fun to watch!

I think he can have a nice future, but it's going to take him a few years.

One of the Philly superstar prospects (embiid or simmons) will probably be ROY.

Embiid won't play enough, but it'll be Simmons. He's ready and will have opportunities.
True, they might have Embiid on a minutes restriction, but the whole point was to get him healthy for the long-term.   Durant and Brook Lopez didn't have minute restrictions after their bone grafts.

Dunn or Murray
Id imagine no team has ever had 3 straight rookies of the year

Thinking about the OP's post, amazing to me that the top three picks went to three of the most storied franchises in the league.
Going to be an exciting decade.

Best part, we picked third after a 48 win season. LA and Philly will be digging out for a long time just to reach 48 wins.

Apparently you can bet on ROY.   Ben Simmons has top odds followed by Buddy Hield and Brandon Ingram.   Embiid is 7th.  Jaylen Brown is tied for 12th with a bunch of other guys.  (Bender, Malachi Ricahrdson, Caris LeVert, Brice Johnson)

ROY will be Simmons but if he fails somehow then I wouldnt rule out Hield or Dunn, providing they get playing time. Rubio is going to have to be traded to make enough PT for Dunn to be ROY.

Simmons-Hield-Ingram seems fair.

If Brown wins it thatd be incredibly impressive because it would mean he would outperform guys like Simmons and Ingram and older players like Dunn and Embiid who are all on trash teams where they are forcefed touches and minutes while he carves them out on a playoff team.

Either that or somethings gone horribly wrong and we are a trash team somehow.

Wow.  I didn't even think about that possibility.  They have quite the core building there.  Should be a fun League Pass team to watch this season.

I file this under "too much hype, leading to false hope and high expectations, leading to letdowns." The same reason draft night was a disappointment to some of us.

I've never heard of a "games played" criteria in the NBA for rookie status.  As far as I know, it is your first year of being employed by an NBA franchise.  A player who plays an entire season in the D-League would not be a rookie the next season.  That goes for sitting the bench or injured as well.

Baseball and the NHL have weird rookie rules, I've never heard of any in the NBA or NFL.

I think it all comes down to the top 3 picks here. Ben Simmons in Philly, Brandon Ingram in LA, and Jaylen Brown in Boston. Let's think about who has the best chance to start, best supporting cast and what system supports each player the best chance statistically to earn ROY.

I would think it would be Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram because they are going to be clear cut starters but if Brad Stevens finds a way to fit Brown in the lineup he could have a shot at ROY

Second coming of Vince Carter.  :)

Why stop there? I think he'll be finals MVP!
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Griffin and Noel qualified after sitting out their rookie seasons, so I'd imagine Embiid will as well
I'm bitter.
