Listen Im not trying to point out how racist the city is ... I was only pointing out contributing factors why a player may choose Miami, NY, San An or who else over if given the same amount of cap space... and that goes double for team in Fl and TX with no state income taxes...

The NBA draft is never a sure thing... Even when you look at past drafts there are some where virtually no impact players are drafted in a given year... and even a good or better draft may produce 10 players who give a strong contribution to their team.. That being said its good the Celtics used 6 total picks with two in the top 16 plus another one that most people like in Zizic..
As OP pointed out the Celtics for the most part were GIVEN these picks so its like going to the casino with house money... There was not a single Celtics player that everyone immediately wanted back except for Rondo but now all are grateful in getting Crowder back plus a first rounder.. Ainge continues to do a great job and most have to realize this FA market is practically a fair market for anyone... everyone has cap space and like it or not Boston is NOT a destination place... Its a cold city, highly racist city, has minimal attractions, so if the Celtics can win over some players with a great coach, good chemistry, storied franchise thats all the best... But overall the team has to build the nucleus through the draft and I thought he did a hell of a job..

Has Paul Pierce, KG, IT, Doc, or anyone in recent Celtics history ever indicated that Boston is a racist city or that they don't love Boston? Pierce wants to stay around and open a business here, he wrote love letters to the city and fans in the Boston Globe. Boston is one of the most open minded areas in the country for race and gender and sexual preference. So much so that large parts of the country who support Trump hate us for this. The only areas that rival Boston for liberal, open minded people are the San Francisco, San Diego, LA areas, and NY. That's it.

Boston is legit, top tier destination for free agents. Mark my words.

that why they have NEVER signed a top tier FA...

Salary cap history, look it up.

Yep, we have never actually had the cap space to sign any top tier free agents. This is a first for the Celtics. Ignoring this fact and attributing it to highly inaccurate beliefs of things like racism boggles the mind.

OK I hope I am wrong... but seriously all the pipes dreams of signing KD need to end

some players might highly value weather, taxes, nightlife etc.

and some players also might value having a winning tradition, great ownership/office/coach, a great fanbase, an intelligent, accepting city with a low crime rate that is a great place to raise a family. say what you want, new englanders might be a little grumpy sometimes, but we take care of each other, and generally the things we do tend to make sense. lots of people fall in love with this region after being here a while. so let's not pretend like we have nothing to offer.

if he doesn't sign here it won't be because of racism or weather. it will be because we aren't a true contender and don't have the pieces to put around him. he wants a title for his legacy.

overall i think the true winners are most concerned with... winning championships. once our team gets a little better our odds or landing someone like KD will increase exponentially.

The weather and taxes are two factors that I will agree contribute, and that we lose on. I also think those are not big factors in Durant's priorities though.

This was entire draft full of project picks.  The one guy who has the NBA ready skills isn't a natural and will have a lot of learning to do.  We won't see any of this pay off for several years if it does at all.

and who you have rather chosen?

every pick from 3-8 had some kind of hole that makes them not ready.  You can add rail thin ingram into the conversation

Bender might have nice skills but he is ways away physically.  Murray has to work on his conditioning to become an average NBA calibre defender.   etc.

Brown has a high upside and willing to work for it.

Kris Dunn was the BPA - by far - because of pg skill and the opportunity he afforded anyone to either deal him, or free up other less skilled guards like Marcus Smart to be dealt later.

It wasn't close.

Comes as no surprise that someone as savvy as Thibs snapped him up.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Didn't Dunn refuse to work out for anyone and refuse to hand over his medical records and things like that?

Maybe he ends up being a stud, but I still don't trust stats from 4-year players and we already had a bunch of guards.

Welcome to the NBA draft...is this your first time following it?  ;)

A top three pick, 3 first rounders, and 5 of the first 35 overall.  Not one guy chosen that can step in and fill a need.  No shooters or any rim protection.  If you can't see that  others filled needs and we didn't with all those assets you need to put the green goggles down.

You don't draft for need, you draft for talent. Drafting for need is how teams end up in mediocrity forever by missing out on the best players available.

You fill needs through free agency, which is just about to start. That and through trades.
