Dare I ask how a Clips meeting can 'blow you away'?
They're cap strapped. Their team is really poorly constructed. They have no assets, save for Griffin on a one year deal. And he's their best player.
If Durant signs with the clips...
I mean, I'd hope that any team meeting with Durant can put together a compelling free agent pitch. Players like him don't hit free agency often.
But Blake Griffin played 35 games last year, and they literally want to run a team of their big 4 with only minimum players around them, in a year when the Ish Smiths of the world get $6 mil a year, AND Durant might have to take less to do so. And if he signs a one-year deal, to capitalize next year in free agency, the Clippers will probably be in the same boat again, because Blake and CP3 will be looking for max deals too, and will have huge cap holds.
I cannot possibly see how the Clippers can put together the most compelling case. I'm willing to believe they put together something strong, but they should be 5th or 6th of the six teams.
