the Celtics want to talk to both Kevin Durant, and Al Horford on the phone.

They looking to do a conference call with them?

This is good news. It's painfully obvious now that these two are going to try and team up somewhere, so why waste time and not talk to them together? Danny has an excellent case for them joining up in Boston without having to gut the roster.

Stein: Thunder in strong position with Kevin Durant after meeting

Yeah, I got a feeling that we'll hear this same thing after every single team meeting he has. lol

I can see it now -

"Golden State in the driver's seat after wooing Durant with the SUPER DEATH LINEUP!"

"Durant is HIGHLY tempted by a potential Big 4 in Los Angeles."

"Sources report that Pop got down on his knees to beg Durant to come to San Antonio - that sat well with KD. Spurs now the favorite."

"Celtics totally blew their meeting talking about "assets" the entire time... and they're ugly."

"Riley used his magic to convince Durant that he'll sign four other max free agents and get them to take discounts to play with KD in Miami."

Expect the rest of the teams to be in a "strong" position after meeting Durant.

According to Bulpett, if we can't get Horford, we'll target Mahinmi and Mozgov among others. I'd love to land Mahinmi, and Mozgov might be a decent reclamation project.

Incoming Danny-bashing

It will be richly deserved.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

According to rumours, Mahinmi will almost certainly stay in Indy.

Agree......it may take four Max contract ,   Screw the cap ,   To win.   The owner are goi g to have to go over the cap to compete with Cavs , Spurs and GS.

Takes talent and money .  ......or people won't show up in the stands eventually.

If the owners won't pony up Four Max Stars ......then they are peeing in the wind hoping Durrant lands here. .....it's going to,take way over the cap to beat Cleveland .

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Nothing really new here. We knew this going into free agency.

Tell me about it... KD is almost certain to return to OKC and all these threads have been in vain  :P

I mean, I want to believe, and I'll keep believing. But we all knew and know that Durant is likely to return to OKC. The least we can do is try still.

If I was his friend I'd let other teams know that they have to go all out to sway Durant. If you weren't thinking of giving Horford the max, you better.

I don't think this means much. The fact that OKC wants to talk to him again after the meeting makes me think they are still nervous that he jumps ship.

That's possible. It's also the day of the heat meeting. So the evil Pat Riley won't get a full day to brainwash KD.

https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/748702637336387584

"OKC, meanwhile, continues to probe the league for potential trade partners to take on Enes Kanter to free up money for a run at Al Horford"

https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/748703183921225728

"Don't forget on Kanter: Has veto power over any trade until July 12 after OKC matched his Portland offer sheet AND a 15-percent trade kicker"

The already difficult to move Kanter just got even a bit harder to move. 15% trade kicker is not inconsequential for his contract. It'd put him making around $20M now. Crazy.
