...Jaylen Brown needs to start and play 40 minutes a game.

Yeah he's a rookie and he needs to earn minutes blah blah blah.

But the truth is he needs game action/experience to get better and if we lose a few more games that's fine.

And we need to trade a guard or two away as well....Brown is quick enough to play the 2.

No reason for him to play the 4 and get beat up by big guys....let's be smart about this.

Play Brown strictly at the 2/3 positions.

Yeah, Turner is not coming back unless we unexpectedly deal Brown or Crowder. It is a smart move because somebody will probably overpay for Turner simply due to so much cap space being available this offseason. Good for him.

If we manage to sign Durant, then maybe yes. We don't need to resign Turner. But if we fail on Durant sweepstakes, I would put Turner on the SG spot. If there is one I would release, it would be any of Young, Sully, Zeller and Jerebko.

Yeah, I personally don't want to hear one word about earning minutes. That's a crock. Sully didn't earn anything coming in fat. That argument holds no credibility. No future here so I'm on board with the original poster. Thomas, Bradley, crowder, brown, Amir.

Smart will continue to have his growth stunted if we bring back turner. Turner is better, it's true. But if we are still HOPING Smart will make a leap from the didsapointing offensive player he's been, turner can't be here.

I'd also not have jerebko given minutes even though I admire the guy.

I am so ready for the end of the Evan Turner era.

I fully admit that he was useful last year -- even with all the ball-dominating and 3-point clunking -- but he is completely worthless when he's not handling the ball, and we've got three young point guards now who can handle the point behind Isaiah Thomas, and Brown does need minutes.

I don't think Brown needs 40 minutes a night -- he can learn behind Crowder -- but he needs game action that Rozier and R.J. Hunter didn't really get last year.

Given how much small ball is played and Brown's athleticism, Brown could take all of Jerebko's minutes and more at the four.  But given that Smart needs more time with the ball in his hands and how much Turner will likely be offered, letting ET go seems inevitable.

The bigger question is what to do with our bigs.  There's a lot of them out there but do you take a chance on Whiteside?  Overpay for a role player like Biyombo or Mahinmi?  Give the max to Howard or Horford?  Keep Zeller or Sully?

Me too.....he plays like a man plays defense.and gives 100 % every minute .   Important .....he makes very very few mental mistakes or bonehead plays

me too  ;D
I think ET is superfluous with our roster as is. And we can add instead a 3pt shooting wing to help us with scoring.

Evan Turner has grown on me in a positive way during his tenure with the Celtics, but I agree with the opening premise.

Time to move on.

Brown will probably play 20-25 MPG at first if I had to bet. He will get plenty of time to develop in those minutes. No player in the NBA plays 40 MPG these days really. Playing above 36 MPG seems pretty uncommon nowadays.

Sometimes in the nba, it's perception.  You limit your #3 pick to bench minutes, then the rest of the league might see him as a bust. Then you try to trade the kid and you can't get fair value.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I like Turner a lot, but it seems like some of the younger guys need minutes.
I trust Danny to make the right call on Turner.
