That's very cool news.  I feel like our best chance of signing him is if we never allow him to leave Boston.  We have to woo him and convincing him that this is his next step to a championship.

Being on KD's visit list definitely gives us a chance at least.  And even if he doesn't decide to sign up the first visit... if we leave a very strong impression, he might come back to us next year if he signs the opt out type of deal with OKC.

He's not visiting Boston.  Teams are going to him, probably in New York.

Great news, it's the first step we needed.

Now it's up to Danny, Brad (and IT) to sell KD on the fact that this is the best situation for him, not only in basketball terms, but also in marketing ones. He can pretend all he wants that he will only make his decision based on "basketball reasons" but he can't deny that :
- he would have the chance to become the undisputed star of the team, and relish a chance to follow the footsteps of Celtics legends such as Larry Bird and Paul Pierce, which is a huge marketing asset (think of KG when he came to Boston)
- regardless of the moves we make this summer, he would have a much easier path to the Finals than in the West, and for years to come. Yes, the Cavs just won the title but they are far from unbeatable and LeBron is starting to show his age.
- he values good coaching, competent management and a team willing to spend both to improve the roster and to market its stars, and the Celtics excel at all three (see the campaign they had to get IT to the ASG).
- he likes this kind of city and atmosphere
- he knows Danny wanted to draft him in '07.

Taken individually, each of these points may seem worthless but put together I think it really becomes an obvious choice. I know the Spurs and Warriors theorically offer him the best chance of winning right now (which can be argued since the Spurs got beat by the Thunder and the Warriors almost did too before collapsing in the Finals), but to me (and hopefully to him :P) they don't offer him the best chances of winning long-term since Aldridge and Kawhi are not that much of a great core and the Warriors are kind of in an uncertain place (regarding their free agents and Curry's health which comes into question again these playoffs).

Finally, I think the OKC ship has sailed, especially in the wake of the Ibaka trade and the fact that Westbrook is more likely than not to bolt next summer.

OKC is one of the favorites to win the title next year.  Really like the trade they made with Orlando.  But the mere fact that they've been included...I think that's going to bode well moving forward.

If it were strictly a legacy thing and I were Durant (I wish..) I would look at where I have the best chance to maximize what I can be as a player and CBS, it seems to me, would be the coach to bring that out.  Plus he'd be the unquestioned top dog.

But honestly, OKC is on the cusp and he has the option of going back for one more year. I think that's ultimately why he stays.

Last year everyone seemed to be setup in LA.

I think San Antonio is the front runner.  Front line of LaMarcus Aldrige, Kwahi Leonard, Kevin Durant.  Have to get some guards to replace the aging guys, but it is easier to get guards than centers:  having Aldrige is huge.  Golden State has the splash brothers, but need to move the needle with defensive bigs.  Does Durant and Draymond Green really fit together without a true rebound hogging rim protector star?
Celtics are younger and more flexible team and with someone like Durant to do the volume scoring, maybe our defensive guards are good enough, and we still need a star big.  If Durant thinks Horford is good enough- better than Bogut or what GSW will have at center, we might have a shot.
Really, does GSW need more scoring or more defense?  Boston needs more scoring and another shooter.  Durant is a better fit here.  On Celtic championship teams, you had offense and defense specialists.  Cousy was a great passing point guard -- shot well enough to keep people honest.  Sam Jones took most of the shots.  KC Jones and Satch Sanders played defence.  Tommy Gunner Heinson was a black hole on offense, you passed him the ball past half court and it was going towards the basket (though he would pass the ball on fast breaks).  Russell scored some but concentrated on defense and rebounding.

I could see Durant going to San Antonio before Golden State. I think chances are really low for that. It's just such an intriguing proposition that Durant has to think about it and people have to talk about it. I see Golden State as less likely than Boston in actuality.

San Antonio has to be 1A to staying in OKC. Pop is the legend. Front office is what Celtics aspire to be + Aldridge + Leonard + aged core players and Danny Green.

Celts have intriguing selling points but lack elite rim guy. Amir is adequate for a year perhaps. Plus, we need one more major piece that we could get without depleting our depth and the BK picks.

Nobody can offer the perimeter D. Coaching and front office ranks #2 to SAS, perhaps tied with GSW. Flexibility wise, Celts are #1, with the best ability to makes tweaks to form fit the roster.

At this point,  he has to want us and sit down to map out the rest of the requirements.

I doubt this happens but him going to the east would be somewhat less a slap in the face to the okc fans.

Also told roster, comfort level with coaches and the future of the team key parts of Durant's search. Market size is not a factor.

IT recruiting again is it just me or are these tweets hurting more than helping? Sounds desperate and not Durants style especially when FA hasn't even opened yet

That's us. Let's get him
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I'm on the fence about it. At this point, it's nice to have such a charismatic star going to bat for us on the recruiting side of things. It's just different than what we are used to (Pierce, Garnett, and Rondo being much lower key).

Miami LA FA destinations
Wariors and Spurs elite teams 66 and 73 wins last year
OKC current team
Boston

word is he doesnt care about market. This bodes well for us when going up against the clippers and Heat. The idea that he doesnt wanna do this again next year gives us a much better shot against OKC and something doesnt feel right about Golden State. I just dont see him going there.

San Antonio on the other hand. I cant see why hed go here instead of there. The West has GS but the East has Cleveland. We have Brad but they have Pop. We have organizational stability but they have even more. We have more history but they have more recent history. We have a solid squad they have a legit contender. Hed be the alpha male here and hed be there too, where hed play with the other 2 most humble superstars in the league. I think we can beat out LA and Miami easily. I think we can beat out GSW too same with OKC but I dont see us beating out San Antonio.
