It's something to keep an eye on.  There was a time when Brooklyn was seen as a major free agent destination due to the potential marketability of that team.

They really have no reason not to spend wildly.  They have no draft pick.  They can throw money at all sorts of role players this Summer.

For more of my thoughts on the Brooklyn Nets, see Eddie20's signature.

Not sure this is true. I thought the owner was having issues lately. Seems like he's in cost cutting mode.

If I were the Nets, I'd be willing to overpay some restricted free agents.

Probably what they'll end up doing. Overpaying for guys like Sully and Waiters and such.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Knowing that losing will joy land them a pick I expect the Nets to max out two guys this offseason. Maybe they will make this big dollar short term deals if they are lucky.

Rondo, Jack, Levert, Sloan
Levert, Bogdanovic, Whitehead, Sloan
RHJ, Bogdanovic, McCullough
Lopez, Sully, McCullough
Howard, Lopez, Sully

Is that more than 50 million to add?  They just need one more big who is a cheap bruiser (Trevor Booker type).

Levert is a shooter.  Rondo can get the ball to each of those other starters, Howard for dunks, Lopez where he wants it, RHJ for alley oops quick cuts, Levert for 3's.  Sully is an excellent passer.  McCullogh let's see.  Whitehead could be a big defensive stud in the backcourt if he focuses, and a combo PG/SG like Levert if Levert struggles year one or has injury concerns.  Whitehead was 38 on Draft Express, not too shabby in a deep draft.  Levert without injuries was considered lottery material.

Anyhoo, hoping they're bad enough that we get Lonzo Ball in next year's draft.

What moves could the Nets make that would actually scare you?

They have roughly 60 million in cap space.

What if they offered Mike Conley 20 mil...

Offered Pau Gasol 20 mil...

Offered Batum 20 mil...

And had a lineup of Conley, RHJ, Batum, Gasol, Lopez...

would that be enough to pull them out of the bottom 5?

If they sign Durant, Horford and Conley, I'll be scared.

The Nets aren't gonna do anything "scary."

Would be funny if they ended up signing Rondo, Jeff Green, and Jared Sullinger.

Two more names they are reportedly targeting:  Mike Conley and Kent Bazemore.

And to clarify, I'm not talking about them signing enough talent to win a title.  I'm just saying, what moves could they make that would make you worried about the picks staying in the top 5.  Them signing Mike Conley would hurt.

Of course it would. Terrifying scenario.

Conley would hurt a lot, but why would he sign with them?  MEM, DAL, HOU and likely even LAL+NO are all more attractive than a Nets team that finished with the 3rd worst record, has since lost Thad Young from that team and doesn't have picks/assets to improve outside of the FA market.

Conley strikes me as pretty unrealistic as he's going to be sifting through multiple max offers, and will have better spots to land accept one from.  I'm sure they do have interest in Al Horford too, but the bigger question is does Al Horford have interest in them?  Seems unlikely to me.  Bazemore a more realistic target, but he's not a big needle mover.

Anyone at max or near max, they are going to have a really difficult time convincing to sign there because of how many better teams have cap space as well.   The only thing they can really offer is money, and if you are talking max or near max guys like Conley/Horford/Batum/etc., money isn't as big of a factor anymore.  I could see a Jeremy Lin as a target, too, but again, not a big needle mover that neccessarily takes them out of the mix as a bottom 3-5 team.  But Lin, Bazemore types are the ones I think you are looking at.  Someone with a relationship with their coach who aren't getting max/near max money.

FWIW, even their coach has tried to temper their fans expectations suggesting they will be looking more at under the radar guys than the top of market stars.  https://twitter.com/andy_vasquez/status/747868323224948736?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

So the Bucks ended up with the 10th pick this year with 33 wins.

35 wins = the 11th worst record in the league.

I guess a better way the phrase the question would have been to ask what signings you think Brooklyn needs to make in order to get to 33+ wins?    Seeing the pick fall outside the top 10 would be a bummer.
