Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Isn't it obvious? Trump.

;)

Mike

Ahahaha, TP ;D. On a more serious note, this seems like a disinformation campaign by the Spurs to get him at 29.  Sigh.

Good, that means he's closer to fully mature. Take him at 23 or 31 or 35.

Done.
gee, can the celtics still draft him when he is 35 years old? ;)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Could only imagine the madness around here if Ainge had been the one to draft Maker.

2010 CB Historical Draft - Best Overall Team

Reddit user proves Thon Maker is at least 23 years old...unbelievable

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Very good/interesting/hilarious discussion going on at realgm about this...but this really is true and someone at the Bucks is getting fired.
The Bucks realgm board is losing their sh%÷* as you can imagine.

Basically, Thon is at least 23 and graduated year 12,  then repeated 6 years of school under a different identity.

Can you imagine using the 10th pick and finding out via some bball geek that you got fooled?

I wonder what the precedent is...he hasn't signed a contract yet so perhaps he'll get dropped or oerhaps the Bucks just have to suck it up.

One of the most bizarre events in recent nba history.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yes, there was a yearbook picture, and no, it isn't a conclusive evidence of anything. This story was widely known before the draft.

He's still a 7 footer with decent handles, decent ups, and a decent outside shot. 23 or not, you don't come by that every day

The yearbook pics were circulating online some time before the draft - this alone makes me think it is highly unlikely the Bucks FO did not know of the rumours.

Add to this that Maker is originally from Sudan, and scandals evolving the age of sub-Saharan African players happen all the time (esp. in soccer; we had discussed this in another thread).

tbh, I'm not convinced yet either way; there are legit concerns about his age, but it does not seem to me to be definitively proven. But it sure is an interesting story to follow.

If he does get 'dropped', I'll be more than happy to take him off their hands.

Think they drafted him because he can ball not because of his age. TBH even if he was coming in at 24 years old he still would of got picked up early, because he can ball! He was drafted at 10 and he was supposed to be a late 1st so I know they wasn't thinking about the age being a factor at that time. Isn't top 10 players expected to be near NBA ready?

They might be right, but it would be the first time that Reddit proved anything.  Remember when they "proved" who the Boston Bomber was?   ;D
