First off, Derrick Rose is NOT worth trading the #3, only Bulls Fans will think that. Rose has one year left on his contract, and the Sixers have the ability to absorb Rose's salary, and have a huge upgrade at PG. The Celtics get Okafor who could grow into a 20/10 big man, and while his defense might be questionable, being around a group of hustling, defensive guards can help mask that a bit, and there's no denying we need a legit interior post-scorer and a guy who can rebound efficiently. Also the Sixers probably want to deal Okafor instead of Noels. Covington can help cover depth at the 3 which is thin behind Crowder. More than anything, they are also valuable trade chips for the Celtics in the future as they have a few years of control left after next season as well. As a bonus, the Celtics could keep pick #3 as well. The Bulls could look to rebuild in a way but ultimately pick up assets and some players to try and build a team around Butler. The Bulls are reportedly and understandably more willing to trade Rose before they trade Butler, even though they won't get as much in value back as they would by trading Butler (for example, no #3 pick back).
What do you guys think of this deal? If anyone has any tweaks or changes that could make this deal better or more fair for all sides, then that would be nice.
