Celticsblog is crazy.  All we ever hear is "Danny won't pick foreign players."  Then he picks two in the first round, and now he screwed up the first.  Come on!

FWIW, Kevin O'Connor had Jackson 14th on his board. Great value at #45.
does it make up for taking a guy projected in the 2nd round at #16?
I used some twisted logic to rationalize that Ainge did that because he (1) wanted Yabusele, (2) wanted to not have to sign 3 first rounders, and (3) thought that second rounders might be easier to move. That, and his first draft and stash choice (Hernangomez) was gone.
BTW so many players drop down, maybe Yabusele was a pick Danny like and thought would have been taken anyways

Some good guards are going to go undrafted.  McClellin probably won't get picked.  Payton, Felder, and VanFleet don't look like they will get picked.
Felder is going to Cleveland at 54, bought from Atlanta.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

I thought he could be good in summer league bacause he has the same ball than IT, maybe not making the team, bt at least to get our rookies to the speed of IT game

I think now that the dust has settled ppl are more chill about it.

But yeah, the first round was was full of passion and exclamation marks.

Or it's the same explanation he had for picking Rozier 16 last year. Maybe he suspected another team would draft him before we were on the clock again.
The problem is we were going to be on the clock 3, perhaps 4 times before his projected position.  Even if he really wanted Zizic, he should have been able to take Yabusele too.

On the other hand, the way this draft went you never know.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

All in all, I'm not too pleased with this year's draft, but when am I ever? Still bummed out we couldn't get a deal done for an established player a la Jimmy Butler.

I hope Brown will be worth the 3rd pick, I gotta trust Danny with the Yabusele pick, and I really like the Zizic pick at 23.

Considering that I thought this was a relatively weak draft to begin with, I guess I'll give us an...arbitrary C?
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I think all the trade rumors leading up to it got everyone's hopes up for trading #3 for an all-star, but in the end Ainge did very well in Round 1.

Brown could turn out to be a superstar, possibly the best player to come out of this draft if he reaches his potential.

The French dude....how can you not like a French Sully with a better attitude and work ethic, who we can also stash abroad?

Zizic is a steal at 23 and FINALLY gives us a talented young center who can rebound like hell and score in the post.

Getting Jackson and Bentil and a future first rounder out of our 2nd round picks is a home run.

if the 2019 clips pick is unprotected (ppl were writing rumours earlier- maybe they were just trolling), it's a good trade. Just imagine getting a lottery pick out of two second rounders.

It's lottery protected in 2019 and 2020. Been confirmed.
