Say we can trade for Butler on draft night

Bos sends : AB, Crowder , #3,Dallas pick
Chi sends : Butler

There is no way Danny Ainge does that trade.  And thank god he wouldn't.

Why would we give up AB for Butler? I would like to hang onto AB since he's our best 2 way player.
Butler is a better 2-way player, period.
Technically, Bradley is a better defender and might be a better shooter.

It was interesting hearing Sean Grande talk about Butler.  He said Butler isn't as big an upgrade over Jae Crowder as people think.   Consider some people think we'll need to give up#3, Crowder AND Bradley to get Butler.  That could be a pretty big set back.

If you're operating under the premise we need Butler to get Durant, I'd argue that we should just explain to Durant how his impact would heighten the efficiency of players like Bradley, Crowder and #3.  No need to take a big step backwards to take a big step forwards.

Is it really worth Butler's massive contract when you have Bradley who is a defensive first teamer making 8million the next 2 years? I certainly don't think so.

Butler is a huge upgrade over Bradley. Does anyone truly believe that is not the case? Bradley had finally earned the status we have been waiting for all these years-he's an asset for a trade.
Bantha Fodder.

Ainge would love Butler. The question is how much would we have to give up to get him.
Brad Stevens had already proven he can make Butler a winner..... :o

Yup. The thunder have a losing record over the past two seasons without Durant.  They literally missed the playoffs last year, because he was limited to 27 games.   That team would be lucky to crack 40 wins without him.

Boston won close to 50 this year.  Clearly adding Durant + a player like horford would trump anything the thunder have.  No need to waste assets on jimmy butler to surpass the thunder.

Yeah, well the Thunder unfortunately play in the West.  We need a team that can surpass Cleveland in the East!

In the playoffs, I'd rather have Butler with Durant, and so would KD.
Smart and the 3rd for Butler plus a couple of 2nd Rounders and Jared Sullinger!

How much better than Derozan is Butler?

Butler isn't going to look like a massive contract when the cap goes up the next few years , he is only making  16 mil . Butler can guard the 2/3 at an elite level . Rozier and Smart can guard PG's off the bench .

Butler is a 2 time allstar , 3 time all nba defense , and most improved player award . He was in the running for MVP before he went down half way through the season .

He is clearly better than Bradley .

He has high accolades, but if he was really THAT good why does Chicago seem so keen to move on from him? Smells fishy imo.
