Speculation. Ainge is going to do all his homework on the top guys. Than if he's smart which he is, he would wait till the pick is up. If for some reason say Ingram dropped down to #3 you make the pick!!

how many times do we play Philly every year? Do we have to get by Philly to get #18? Don't turn Pilly into a behemoth that Celtics will regret. Ainge has to think about this one very carefully.

We have to contend with Philly and beat them if we are to get #18 and more, the competition starts with this draft.

You act like dunn is the next Westbrook while Okafor is like melo. Cmon

I'm with Ogaju here.  This requires some thinking.  Don't enable Philly if you can manage it.

Oh wait, maybe I can use this article to say "we know" or we have "proof" that Ainge don't trade the #3 straight up unless he gets more than Okafor in return.
Haha, sorry, related to the topic about Philly's trades.  8)
Well it's another one of the countless articles that matter of fact reports we tried trading the pick for Okafor at he deadline.

I'd guess ainge makes the offer again, but he first waits until draft night to see if Ingram or Simmons slips.

Who knows where the nets pick would of landed on draft night. Maybe. 5 or 6 (around the trade deadline last season)

Nets plus sully/Zeller(guessing) for  Okafor made sense for danny.

But now for third (for example brown) he is prob thinking twice. Especially scrutinizing Okafor defense vs small ball.

We will see

if he wasn't thinking twice when the pick had a chance to land 1-2, it's pretty unlikely he's thinking twice now that the pick is locked in at the lesser tier.

I do think he wants to be careful about not trading it in case Ingram or Simmons inexplicably falls... And they also don't want to seem too eager to give away the pick.  So for the next few weeks they have to give the illusion they are super happy with options at 3.

Unless bender has wowed him, he rather grab Okafor .  Murray imo will get a look.  Brown already on the list

http://www.sportsrageous.com/nba/nba-rumors-boston-celtics-trading-third-overall-pick-2016-nba-draft-jahlil-okafor/24488/

Obviously this is a rumor/idea that's been debated to death. The more I think about it though the more it makes sense.

Reportedly:

Philly loves Dunn.
Boston had inquired about Okafor in the past.

Obviously:

Philly has too much redundancy with Noel, embiid, and Okafor. They have three center prospects. Simmons and Saric are forecasted as PF. So much invested in a front court in a league being dominated by perimeter play.

Boston we all know doesn't really need to draft another PG or guard in general. But the third best prospect might be a guard in this draft.

Philly wants and needs a guard. If Okafor was in this draft he's a top three prospect. Ainge would draft him if he didn't go 1 or 2.

Makes too much sense for both sides not to get something figured out once the lakers make their pick and if neither Ingram or Simmons is still on the board.

The Celtics and Sixers were reportedly talking an Okafor swap at the trade deadline, and Danny Ainge would likely jump back into trade talks with Philly for the young big man this summer. Ford said if Boston is willing to trade the third overall pick in the upcoming draft for Okafor, “[the trade] would be done tomorrow.” He’s just not convinced Ainge would give up the pick for Okafor at this point in time.

This is the first time I have heard a rumored trade for Okafor. Will have to think about it

Have you been gone for awhile? We have threads about this every day now lol
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

There is absolutely nothing new or substantive to this 'sportsrageous' article.

It reads like yet another article repeating rumors passed on by another article pulled from another blog pulled from a tweet as sourced from ...
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Feels like we are getting a strong player regardless with the 3 slot if this Okafor deal is sitting there for us. If that is the worst case, or one of the realistic scenarios, we are adding a stud to the team.
Brown, Bender, Dunn and the others we could grab are also sounding more and more exciting. Let's do this Danny.

yep.

instead of "Rumors:" in the title, it should say "Clickbait:".

There. Fixed.

There's nothing exciting about another guy who can't shoot.

FWIW, Bill Simmons said more or less the same thing:

Quote
“I think the guy they’re going to trade for is Okafor,” Simmons told 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher & Rich” on Wednesay. “That almost happened in February. And if you think about it, it makes a ton of sense for Philly. … They basically spent all these high lottery picks on big guys — Nerlens Noel, (Joel) Embiid … and then last year Okafor. And meanwhile the league’s gone small, and you need perimeter guys to win in the NBA.
