Trade the 3rd/23rd/2nd rounder to Phoenix for 4/13....Then we'd have 4/13/16

Use the 4th pick on Hield or Murray...Draft BPA's with 13/16--or trade up into top 10 (Poeitl).
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Not if they want Bender.

The more I read or see about the draft the more I am starting to believe, if DA and CBS like Bender they should take him at 3. There is no necessity to draft a ready made NBA player and there are so many options with the other picks.

I had doubts due to limited stats and there is still some risk. I like all the reports about his attitude and professionalism though. That won't win games alone or make you an NBA player, but with his other assets its a good base.

I don't think trading down is the best value. If you like a player that you think you can get at #5 you just take them at #3. Danny will have every player rated and will take what he thinks is the best player.

Why not?  If Minnesota calls and says "give us the #3, we will give you the #5 and a future unprotected 1st" you wouldn't take that trade?

Trades like this happen in the NBA.

Phx likely says no and wants the 4-16 back

I don't mind 4-13 for 3-16. Unless Celts and phx really want the same player at 3. Then no trade

Why phx wants to do this trade even though they r next up is , in case Celts are thinking about trading the pick (but not certain)

True, but such trades make me nervous.  If the team at #4 doesn't pick as expected, it could wreak havoc on the plans.  >:(

That said, this could be the perfect draft for "trading down", because the talent level is relatively flat from 3 through 8 or so.  You need a trading partner who has absolutely fallen into blind love with a player at #3.  I don't think Ainge is in love with anyone at 3.

I agree with this. If there is somebody who is willing to give up real, tangible assets to move up to 3, I'd absolutely do it.  I'm not yet convinced that a guy like Valentine or Luwawu isn't the gem of this draft.  Trade down if you can add assets.

If Phoenix loves Bender at 3, this seems very reasonable.  Moving up 1 spot isn't free.

Jaylen Brown is a beast at SF.  He fills a real need.  Top athlete in the draft - bar none.

Celtic pick him at # 3.
