Hello CB,
I have seen both of these names thrown around as potential free agent targets and wanted to see who the board would prefer if we were to go after one of these guys.
Harrison Barnes:
6'8" 225lbs
Turns 24 tomorrow May 30th (Happy Birthday Harrison!)
2015-16 Stats:
30.9 MPG
.466 FG (On 9.6 FGA per game)
.383 3pt FG (On 3.2 per game)
.761 FT (2.1 per game)
11.7 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.6/0.2 Steals/Blocks
Evan Fournier:
6'7" 205lbs
Turns 24 October 29th
2015-16 Stats:
32.5 MPG
.462 FG (On 11.8 FGA per game)
.400 3pt FG (On 4.9 per game)
.836 FT (3.0 per game)
15.4 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.2/0.0 Steals/Blocks
Fournier's offensive numbers look nice on paper, but Barnes looks to me like the better all around player (not to mention he is a little bigger and could play both the 3 and small ball 4).
I could not find the max contract values for these guys, but both were drafted in 2012, so I believe the max contract they could get would be same (it is based on years experience, correct?)
The Celtics are obviously going to try to land a big name player, whether through trade or free agency, but if they don't get one of those top guys they (like everyone else) will have a lot of money to throw at the next tier in free agency.
Both of these guys seems a little redundant at first given our current roster, but I could live with the C's going after either player, even if it meant paying a hefty contract to do so. I would personally prefer Barnes over Fournier due to his ability to play both the 3 and 4, and what I view as better overall defense (I did watch some highlights of both too, not just going off of stats).
Your thoughts?
