I don't see any thing particularly interesting in Bender, is he papular because Porzingis brought a renaissance of Europe bigs?

Anyone has some stats comparison between the two?

Yes I think so, in the same way Darko scared GM's from Euro big men for so long, the NBA seems like a copy cat league.

70's-80's you needed a dominate big man on your team, 90's everyone was playing Iso a la Jordan and now everyone wants to go small and play Warriors pace and space.

There are a ton and a half of threads on these topics. You would be best served by looking them up and reading them before posting.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

He was talked about as a possible #1 pick before the NBA season started, so before Porzingis had success in the league.

In the absence of stats, that he has produced in games, yes, I think Porzingas, doing well helped him.

Porzingas

Bender

Bender has worse stats, read this and you will find that Porzingas is a way better athlete.

That guy was proved wrong.  Bender is not that kind of athlete.   His max vertical is 27.5"   That is a few inches shy of Sully's max vertical.

Probably yes but not only because of him. NBA loves tall Euro players who can do everything on the floor.

Yes somewhat

But bender was still gaining interest in the NBA when porzingis was playing in Europe

But also bender is skilled in other areas like passing and shooting
He's more mirotic than porzingis

Yes, but i think a lot of it is that no team wants to be the one to pass on the next Porzingis

Most of the posts on this thread are fabricated.....

If you have been watching long term projections on upcoming drafts Dragen Bender was projected as a top pick long before Porzingaz was ever drafted....just as Kristaps was a top projection for several years before his number was called.

Euro success in the NBA is not the rarity that so many continue to portray it. There are currently over 100 international players on NBA rosters, a record number that is surpassed each year.   It is important to note though that elite NBA players rarely come from Euro Leagues.

Great European Players
Tony Parker
Dirk Nowitzki
Pau Gasol
Marc Gasol

Good or Solid Players
Goran Dragic
Nikola Mirotic (age 25)
Giannis Antekounmpo (age 21)
Rudy Gobert (age 23)
Nikola Vucevic (age 25)
Jonas Valanciunas (age 24)
Marcin Gortat
Mario Herzonja (age 21)
Evan Fournier (age 23)
Ricky Rubio
Nicolas Batum

Not included are international players like...
Manu Ginobili
Andrew Bogut
Luis Scola
Nene
Tiago Splitter
Anderson Varejao
Serge Ibaka
Loul Deng
Boris Diaw
Festus Ezeli
Steven Adams
Alex Len

And yet you can't refute stats, nice try, go back to the drawing board.  Most all of these guys got more playing time and some of them played young too.

A guy who can't jump and is weak, can't jump and is weak, no matter if he comes from the Brooklyn, Asia, or Europe.

I would take Brown or Dunn.

No. He's been considered a lottery pick at worst for over a year now, and this is what draft express's mock draft for 2016 looked like back in June 2015:

Skal was disappointing so he dropped a bunch since then, and Brown was good, but he has dropped a bit also since he hasn't shown as much development in his shot and awareness as some were hoping. That leaves Simmons, Ingram, and Bender to move up as what we now consider the top 3.

I mean he is right. People have been hyping on Bender for quite a long time now.

Something to remember is that Ingram and Bender are close to a year or more younger than almost every other top prospect in this draft. They might as well be coming out of high school with how young they are.

Absolutely not. He's been considered a top pick for years. Look at the article below; it's from well before the season even started this year.
