Keep the 9 players under contract for next year.  Renounce JS, TZ, ET, JJ, AJ, John Holland and rights to Gigi.  Sign Barnes for max at $21,663,000 and Biz for $19,000,000 (of course they are not worth these amounts, but highest bidder wins). Sign D Bender at 3rd pick and stash.

C:   BB, KO
PF:  HB, J Mickey
SF:  JC, MS
SG:  AB, MS
PG:  IT, T Rozier

Bench: RJ Hunter, J Young, 16th and 23 pick

Total 13 players so far and still $10.6 under the cap, so keep JJ or sign whomever to round out bench.

Great defensive team with lots of small balls lineups.

I think this lineup could take us to 53 to 58 wins and to the third round of the playoffs.  Not a championship team but a next step up the rung team - which I think is all we can help for from this year to next.

What am I missing?

I think Harrison Barnes is a terrible signing.

I have got no interest in Barnes (hopefully delusional Danny doesn't either). The goal is a title, not wasting $20 million on a player that may get you a couple of additional wins. The goal is to get an all-star player (through the draft or trade). Anything else is just window dressing.

Yeah, I'm all in on Biz, but pass on Barnes. He's an unproven 4th option that will likely get max contract consideration... hopefully not from us.

I have been watching Barnes since his Ames Iowa days. He scares the crap out of me. He could be a 20ppg guy or he could be Jeff Green. It could go either way.

There's no real point in draft and stashing Bender. His buyout is only $1 million and you're better off bringing him over than letting Maccabi bench him.

Epic no to both. Both will get grossly overpaid and quite frankly they aren't that good to justify that money.

I like it but:
Bender is coming over immediately.  He as a manageable buyout.  He pays 650k, we Celtics pay 650k.
Toronto will now try really hard to keep Biyombo.
Barns can play PF but he is out of position there, he is a SF.
The best way to get Barns would be a sign and trade and I hear that Golden State likes Bradley.
We might be able to trade for Noel (bigger and better than Biyombo) if we give up some picks and maybe a similar yet shorter and unproven prospect with more of an offensive game, i.e. Mickey.
Role the dice on a big man, draft AJ Hammons and hope he pans out.

PG:  IT/Rozier
SG: Smart/Hunter
SF: Barns/Crowder
PF: KO/Bender
C:  Noel/Hammons

Yep. The biyombo hype is getting a little out of control imo. And Barnes does not, in any world, deserve a max contract. The team that gives him a max contract will be making a HUGE mistake.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I like Biz. No thanks to Barnes. I would rather have AB and his contract than Barnes any day.

...or we can keep our #3 pick and sign Biyombo away from them (unless they are also willing to vastly overpay). Really tough decision there.

In all honesty, the Raptors should at least consider this option (not with our pick, though). Trading V and keeping Biyombo is better value to them than keeping V and letting Biyombo walk. This is similar to what LAL did back with Shaq and the Heat when Kobe was a FA...but nowhere near the same scale.

I dont want to watch a team that pays Harrison Barnes that much money.

I'd rather run it back with the same team than sign Barnes to a max, honestly.
