If you redraft the 2013 class, Noel likely goes #1 overall.
Giannis, Gobert, Cj and Schod wave hi.

The only way I'd give up 16 and 23 for Noel is if James Young is strapped down to those picks and shot off to Philly from a giant human sized slingshot.

Looking at that drdat class, there's a lot of nice to solid players there.

For some reason we always seem to undervalue our players while over valuing trade prospects.

If i were to make an offer I'd do Smart for Noel straight up... Or at most add in our two early 2nd rounders. Marcus is just as good defensively as Noel, just at a different position and getting Noel doesn't solve our immediate issue which is scoring.

That being said after this season i think Smart's ceiling is actually Kawhi Leonard or Jimmy Butler, both of who started as defensive stars and worked on their offense in subsequent seasons. I wouldn't trade him yet, definitely not for just Noel

Gobert is far superior to Noel at this point.

I'm not sure Noel has a lot of value at this moment. I would give Kelly and a pick for him but not anything more.

I like Noel. I voted 'Smart plus 23 & 31'. But the above is certainly not the case.

I reluctantly voted Smart #23 and #31 for these reasons:

1. we need a big that is athletic and can guard athletic 4/5's
2. we have plenty of guards and can give one up
3. we don't want or need that many draft picks this year

No.

At #23 you might be able to grab Maker. Maker is a big question, but he runs the floor, and plays D, and has a nice looking jumpshot.

You could also grab Sabonis at 16 and you'd have two shots at bigs that could play, and play in Stevens style very well. Noel doesn't help much on offense and isn't that good on defense yet to anchor the D like Smart does.

Plus who knows what LA is going to do, they might trade #2 for Okafor, so Philly might go after Dunn after they draft Simmons. I doubt they take Ingram over Dunn after Simmons since they play the same position. But having Ingram drop to 3, and get Sabonis and Maker, would be quite the hall, might be taking one step back because we'd have to develop those guys, but in 3 years, that could be heck of a team.

I would not trade Smart for Noel straight up.  I don't really want to pay Noel $25 million next year.

This is important. Contract is a big deal when trading for Noel. You are severely eroding our cap space in 2017.

I know I might be in the minority here but to me Smart is going to be a star. He's defensively so good already, he's a massive competitor and a fantastic leader. He's the last guy I'm wanting to trade on this team

Noel is awesome, and defense-first centers are better than defense-first guards. However, Noel is a RFA in a crucial offseason next year. We're way better off flexibility-wise with Smart, as his rookie deal will allow us to max out our cap next year and then go over the cap to re-sign Smart in 2018.

So Noel for Smart, I'd be sad, but I'd say yes. Noel for Smart+16+23+$10m of cap space in 2017? No thanks!

Is the story true that he trashed a house he rented in Philly?
No thanks if so.
