By 2018 the only person that will be a rookie in that group of five is Isaac.  Bender will be 20 when the 2018 playoff start and Davis will be 21. They'll both be a lot stronger. But really none of them have to be starters they just have to be on the roster.  I do think that if we had these five players on a roster it would be a frequently used lineup because it would be very effective.  I fully believe that we will draft Bender and I also believe that we are still in search a SG with a serious three-point shot and athleticism.  I think we take a shot on a shooting guard in the second round and I think we take our other two first-round picks package them with some players and try to get the center of the future for the team. So it's really more likely that we have these five players on our team in 2018 then it is that we have Butler or Durant or George or anybody else that we're dreaming of.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
TP man, I like all these guys.
We need more toughness and grittyness. We already have a lot, but adding more guys with that inner fire can only help.
I love Deytona Davis and Poeltl.
Check out Taurean Prince- plays both ends hard and can shoot. Has good size. We'd potentially take him at #23.

For the bigs, I'd really love to get Deytona Davis or Marquise Chriss. Both very athletic, long and can play both ends. I also like Poeltl as more of a traditional big.

It will be interesting to see if Danny tries to acquire a lot of younger guys and roll the dice that one or two of them blossoms because this draft is very deep from #8-#25.

He'll probably combine some picks to move up and I hope we can get Davis, Chris or Poeltl.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I like all these players as well.

As you pointed out, the expectation is that they would be part of a larger roster that would include veterans.

Whether it would be a contender by 2018 would depend mainly on who those veterans were.   But these players would start to become the main factors on the roster at some point.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

I'd love to see us come out of this offseason with a frontcourt of Bender + Davis. Not sure those guys will be THAT good already in 2018, but a frontcourt lineup of Vet/Bender/Olynyk/Davis could be really solid.

Just looked at http://www.nbadraft.net/nba_mock_drafts/consensus

They have Davis going at #13.  We can totally move up and get him; we moved up and got Olynyk with #s 18 & 43 that year and maybe another future second rounder or was it cash, I forget exactly which.

I was really thinking of going for the SF in 2017.   This draft looks stronger in the paint and next year looks stronger at the wing.  There are really nice options at SF and well have a real chance at one of them.

Jonathan Isaac – 6’10 SF – Florida State – currently mocked at # 4 in 2017  (the most length & best looking jump shot)

Josh Jackson – 6’8 SF – Kansas – currently mocked at # 1 in 2017

Jayson Tatum – 6’8 SF – Duke – currently mocked at # 8 in 2017

I fully believe we are drafting bender with the Brooklyn pick this year and that will be our PF of the future, but I’m looking to next years draft to get our go to star.   Like I said there are some nice SF that are projected to be in the 2017 draft but Jonathan Isaac is my preference right now.    I know Josh Jackson and Jayson Tatum look stronger and seem to possess a better dribble drive, but I still like Isaac better, and as a bonus he seems like a more attainable option than Josh Jackson.

Here is some more on Jonathan Isaac:

There is no need to go crazy and make a bad trade just to get a player that can get use through one more round of the playoffs.   We have good draft assets and we can rebuild quick with the Brooklyn picks.  We will have that dominant wing that can score form everywhere, shoots lights out, and has that cold blooded clutch shot to close teams out.   We’ll get him with the 2017 pick.  Well get a defensive minded PF that can stretch the floor to the 3 point line this year with third pick as well as the rim protector at center we’ve been waiting for probably by trading back into the lottery.    We will be a scary team to play because while other teams will be going small we’ll be going beast mode!
