I was looking over free agents and trying to talk myself into maybe signing Chandler Parsons to a reclamation contract and hoping his best basketball is still ahead of him and then I decided to compare him to Harrison Barnes and I realized that Barnes is a full 4 years younger than Parsons. If the Celtics were to sign Barnes, they'd have him for an entire contract before he's as old as Chandler Parsons is right now.

I'm still not itching to see the C's pay Barnes a max contract when he hasn't come close to earning it, but the realization that Barnes was as old this season and Parsons was his rookie season has me thinking he might not be a bad target.

If Celtics were debating between the two of them I would definitely lean towards Barnes. Younger, less injury prone and still more malleable than Parsons. Also a better shooter despite being a slightly worse ball handler.

I agree, but I don't want either.

Wow, did not realize Parsons is so old. Makes me much less enthusiastic about signing him.
