So the Celtics have been hankering for a rim protecting big since the days of Kevin Garnett. One is hitting the free agency market in the form of restricted free agent Festus Ezeli.

We don't want to overpay for him and Golden State would probably match any reasonable price to keep him so...

If Danny called the Warriors to work out some kind of S&T what do you consider fair value?

Ezeli is going to be paid way too much money.

This draft is loaded with defensive bigs in two years they can give us what Big E is giving Warriors. So pass

Seeing as how LAL apparently wants to give him a $50M/3 yr contract, I am going to have to pass on this one. I would rather just roll with Amir until something better comes along.

The thing with sign and trades is that the player has to be interested too.   If some other team wants to pay an unreasonable price the Warriors won't match, then Ezeli will just sign with that team, and leave the C's and Warriors negotiations out of it.

Sign and trades for RFA's make sense only if the contract is something the original team would consider paying but is uncertain about, either due to luxury tax or overall value reasons.  Otherwise:

1) If the offer is more than the original team would ever consider, they aren't going to match, so no reason to trade.
2) if they think it's a great deal, they'll want a lot of compensation in return, or will just match.

Yeah, his option is at like $12M which will look like pretty decent value for a capable big man under the new contract deal.

The draft is before free agency, so we can't include this year's pick in a S&T.

I am thinking that there is going to be little to no sign and trade deals this year given the plethora of teams with cap space.

I am sure we can draft someone then trade his rights to GSW. That is what I meant.

Lots doesn't mean good. There is a very good chance none of those players ever succeed in the NBA. Yes, they all have potential to be really good but the bust potential is off the charts for each one of them as well. Actually, after the first two picks, that describes a lot of this draft class which is why many experts are calling it a down year for draft prospects. Tons of risk this year
