Does this mean they will skip the   "measurements"  portion?

Interesting event. How it is beneficial for some to skip it and for others they can only pray they can get invited to it

Reading If a player is not invited , the chances of being drafted is slim to none (skip International Players)

When you are consensus #1, you have everything to lose and nothing to gain.

It depends on how high profile the prospect is and maybe how deep is the draft. Guys like Simmons have nothing left to prove as they are the heavy favorites for the big lottery money.

I'm sure some lottery players will go in hoping to up their stock similar to D'Angelo Russell last year.

Don't think it's set in stone. Ingram might interest some teams to pick him number 1

Simmons has only an avg wingspan but could do well in max vertical test. Sprints etc

Simmons will work out for the team that lands the #1 overall, maybe even the team with 2nd pick, and that's all. Those teams will be free to measure them and do max and vertical testing then. No reason for him to be measured and prodded by all 30 teams when 29 of them won't even get a chance to draft him.

Simmons could still do it for other team/world to see

What if another team trades up for the number 1 pick

I've seen both play and I'd take Ingram over Simmons on his ability to shoot alone.I saw maybe 4 or 5 Simmons games, and he didn't do anything to make me think he's the next best thing. A good player, yes, the next icon of the NBA, maybe not. Ingram gets his shot off very well.  I'm a bit worried about his lower body getting strong,  but he's still young, and that shooting could only get better.

Now I'm more of  Hield guy if we are out of top two. Kid can shoot with no space and get it off fast. I know people don't like how old he is at 22, but older kids tend to produce faster at times too. And his body is NBA ready. No reason he can't be a factor right off the bat.

But you also have a chance to get Valentine with your 16th, so you could take a chance on Brown with the 3rd pick and hop he developed a shooting touch.

My guess is if another team traded up then the team with the No.1 pick would share their evaluation with them.

Still it's weird to have this event and not make it mandatory for players to come

Any idea why dej. Murray isn't participating? Seems like he isn't high enough of a prospect to skip the event. Possible red (okay maybe orange) flag?

Murray must have red flags or a draft promise.

Remember, that Andrew Wiggins skipped the combine a couple years ago. It's not uncommon for elite prospects to skip the draft.

]I'm actually a little surprised Ingram is going, maybe he pulls out after hearing this, or maybe he's put on some weight since the season ended and wants to show it off.

I wonder about Simmons wingspan, draft express has it as over 7 feet while, Chad ford mentioned that he had a short wingspan in one of his articles.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Ingram is going, but not Simmons/D. Murray, or sabonis.

In the case of Simmons and D. Murray, they both have the same agent (Rich Paul), and he's apparently been seen before as not sending his prospects to the combine
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Wouldn't a promise violate some kind of rules or something? Especially since he hasn't had any public workouts.

Sometimes, guys with a nagging injury skip it as they don't want it to make them look bad.  It could be the case here.

Sabonis isnt going? Very interesting. Seems like he would need to go to show that he isn't an athletic liability.
