Hey guys, I wanted to share my top 16 with y'all. As the draft gets closer I might put together a top 30, but for now I don't think I know enough to make any claims past the top of this years class. So at least this way you can see who my preferences are for the first two picks we have this year.

From my perspective there are 5 players at the top who the Celtics could definitely use! As you might know, the celtics could fall anywhere from 1-6. However there's only a remote possibility of us falling all the way down to 6. So i'm optimistic!

1. Brandon Ingram: Don't be too hard on me for preferring Ingram if we pick 1st. I LOVE both Ingram and Simmons. But Ingram is more of a pure shooter/scorer and I think that he's shown that he has a natural feel for the game that is difficult to teach. He has great measurables and athletic ability. He fills a need and I think both Simmons/Ingram will be all-stars in their prime.

2. Ben Simmons: Simmons would be a versatile big man in Brad Steven's system. Maybe that's enough to justify him over Ingram, but I prefer upgrading shooting/size at the SF position then trying to force Simmons to fit into Brad Steven's system as a hybrid SF/PF/C. I'd be very happy with Simmons with all that said. He's a terrific player who finds ways to score, if he develops a 3 point shot he'll be a star. If you really love Simmons as a prospect, I'd love to hear why. I'm just not sold on him yet.

3. Henry Ellenson: He's got good size for a PF, can't shoot the 3, runs the floor well and has good enough length to contest shots at the rim. His game projects to be similar to Love, who Ainge has coveted for a while now.

4. Buddy Hield: Potential to be an elite scorer, great work ethic/attitude, good size for a 2 guard and Ainge has talked about targeting players who are determined to prove themselves. Hield has shown that he can put in the work and develop his game. I think he's a great fit.

5. Jamaal Murray: My second favorite scorer after Hield. He just hasn't shown as much as Hield has so far. He can shoot though and if Ainge/Stevens feel good about him I would trust them if they preferred him over Hield/Ellenson. Again, I really like this top 5 for the Celtics.

6. Marquese Chriss: I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Dragan Bender. I have watched Chriss play though and I definitely like him as a prospect. He can plus leaping ability around the rim and projects to be a rim protector, so long as he's paired with another competent big man. I think he projects to be a starting PF, best served as a 3rd or 4th option on offense.

7. Dragan Bender: Let the uncertainty begin! I didn't want to put Bender any lower than 6, just yet. I want to hear feedback from teams who work him out before I drop him below other prospects on the board. It would be wonderful if he could be a 7 foot, 3 point shooting, big man for this team. It's exactly what we need. Is that what he is though? Or is he a small forward who gets out muscled by bigs and lacks the lateral quickness to guard SF, but can shoot the ball really well? We have someone like that in Olynyk.

8. Jaylen Brown: Elite athlete, probably the best in this class. Could be a nasty defender and would benefit from the mentorship of Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart. But it's going to be difficult to struggle another poor shooter, despite the exciting plays that will come along with his athleticism. It's nice to have him as an option if we fall to 6 and smell bust when we workout Bender and Chriss.

9. Skal Labissiere
10. Kris Dunn
11. Jakob Poeltl
12. Denzel Valentine
13. Domantas Sabonis
14. Thon Maker
15. Deyonta Davis
16. Taurean Prince (He's a great fit, 3 and D grinder)

TP for the explanations. I'll probably post a big board next week.

After waffling all season, I've decided that I like Simmons a lot better than Ingram. Watching him play, it's clear that he's just extremely good at basketball. His stats are awesome. I think he'll benefit greatly from NBA spacing - he's the type of guy that needs competent teammates to pass to, and he didn't have that at LSU.  He's also an insanely good rebounder, which is something that people don't mention very much. If he develops a 3pt shot (which many people do), there is no limit to how good he can be, and even if he doesn't he can still be a superstar. Meanwhile I like Ingram a lot, but his <.700FT% worries me a bit. If he's merely a good rather than a great shooter, a lot of people will be disappointed.

6. Chriss is an interesting take. He is an unreal athlete. My main hang-up on him is that he is an amazingly bad rebounder for how athletic he is; maybe it's a sign that he should switch to SF, where his athleticism + shooting wouldn't stand out as much. A lot depends on exactly how good he is as a shooter, and I can see him going this high if he shoots really well in workouts. He's similar to Brown and Labissiere--super good tools and some glaring weaknesses.

I really disagree with 3. Ellenson 4. Hield. I liked Ellenson preseason, but he was disappointingly inefficient from everywhere, his tools are good but not great, and his 3pt shot is not a serious weapon yet; with his terrible defense he might not even be playable. Hield is old, unathletic and undersized, and in the past guys who were never good before their senior year have disappointed in the NBA.

1a. Simmons
1b. Ingram

3 on: Please God let's see a trade.

In all seriousness, even if it's for a player like Okafor or Noel, we'd be much better off trading the pick than picking in that range.

Eh. I'm not a huge Noel fan. I'd rather take a guy like Murray (yes i know, another guard, but BPA) than trade for Noel.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I think Noel will be awesome in the right context. He needs to play with a guard who can run the PnR (who did Philly have?!), and he needs to play in a defensive system where he can trust his teammates.

This is pretty reasonable. Do you like Dunn a lot or do you just dislike the other options?

My top 10:

Simmons
Ingram
Bender
Korkmaz
Poeltl
Murray
Dunn
Davis
Jackson
Brown

Simmons .

End of Draft for me.

Throw the picks and players at Cousins or Oakfor
