8 more regular season wins and 2 wins in a first round playoff loss.   Yes the team was definitely better than last years.

However, it is still disappointing that the C's lost in the first round again.

The game 6 in Boston was a definite disappointment.  Shooting 37% as a team has become too often a pattern this year.

If the Celtics can pick up players in the draft that have offensive abilities and if they can convince a big name offensive player to move to the Celtics in the offseason, then they have a chance to be better next year.  Otherwise, the Celtics are going to be stuck in a holding pattern for the foreseeable future unfortunately.

A bit of recency bias is at play here. We are remembering the six games of the playoffs as well as the last few games of the regular season. The reality is that the Celtics were slowed by injuries (the Crowder ankle sprain being the biggest one) late in the year, and then ran into a really well-coached team that was healthy and a bad matchup for them anyway in the first round.

I think they were a lot better, in fact, than they were in 2014-15.

No reason for this team to have even been in the playoffs last year.  They still stunk.  We're not better than the top 3-4 teams in the east.  Matchup against them and we're gonna lose the series. Had we drawn Charlotte or Miami them I like our chances.  Even last year if we drew simeone else we mighta been better.  We don't have the talent to last past a certain point regardless what seed we are.

I reserve judgment on their series against Atlanta given that their best defender and best shooter played on one half of a game.

we were a solid step better this year than last. The problem is, though we are young and taking it one step at a time is ok, we really need some KG and Ray type moves to get good before the guys we have are too old for it to matter. We definatly have the assetsto do it again so we will see.

Don't forget that the East was a stronger conference for the most part this year as well.
