Steph Curry has played 39 minutes this playoffs. Harrison Barnes has played 30 mpg and has completely failed to step up and prove he deserves a big contract. I realize they still have Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, but I really thought this was a big chance for Barnes to prove that his numbers were being suppressed by being on the same team as Steph and Klay and Dray.

Hes really failed to do that so far.

What is he worth this summer? what will he get?

He was a Tarheel, though.

yup, he had a good start to the season, then went down with an ankle sprain, i have nooo idea what is he worth, is he a sleeper superstar/all star, but i can't see anyone giving him more than 15 mil 4 year deal...
i loved his game, and perhaps he is not in the "right situation" for him to develop, but if i'm Barnes, i take a paycut, and stay with this team, win championships or have the best possible chance of doing so in the next 5 years, GSW got themselfes a dynasty, no doubt

He's playing good defense and that is really all they need from him. I think he will have his moments in the playoffs and end up getting a really big contract offer.

I'd be fine making him a big offer if we can't do any better in free agency.

  • GOT IT!!!

So he was good letting tutors do his class work? lol

Around nba circles potential always has people drooling even tho the guy has shown nothing to this point that says he has much. If someone is going to overpay the guy I would trust Ainge not to be the guy.

Those comparisons are lazy. Last time I checked Jeff Green never shut down Zach Randolph in a playoff game. Jeff Green wasn't part of a title run.

We killed Green for disappearing in games when we needed him to score. Barnes always gives consistent effort and has already been the starter on a title team., but his team doesn't need him to score. At this stage he's a glue guy who can guard multiple positions well (better than Green ever defended) but he's so athletic and can shoot so I expect him to improve.

He's Marvin Williams 2.0. Won't ever be a star in all likelihood but he'll be more appreciated once people stop expecting stardom of him and recognize what he brings to the table.

That's the same guy I think of when I think of Barnes. In fact, given Barnes' subpar handles I think he's probably best suited for a stretch 4 spot.

I'd say his value is 11 million per and just a two year deal. Last year being a player opt. Let's him reset his value

Remember when people projected him to be a Melo/Pierce type?

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
When you are the 5th option. It is hard to shine. He is on the best team in Basketball. Look at Klay now that he is option 1. If wee just had Barnes and a healthy Bradley and KO we win the ATL series. Bradley or Barnes would have made the shot the Turner missed in Game one.

That's a crazy low number you're suggesting. Evan Turner is going to get a bigger deal than that. Someone's going to give Barnes a max or near max offer. No doubt. There's far too many teams with cap space this summer for it not to happen.

im not buying barnes as a max player
even though a team probably does offer him that based on his athleticism and potential

in college he had an underwhelming season where he was considered one of the best recruits
he's athletic, solid shooter, and versatile defensively
he's a good 4th option and GSW is probably the best situation for him where curry, klay, and green share responsibilities
but i cant see him as anything more than a good starter
