He's a more durable Bradley and better distributer.  A better Ricky Davis is a good comparison.

This is like saying that George Clooney is a better me.

What worries me about Jimmy Butler is fit.

If he didn't fit well with Derrick Rose, what would make him fit with Isaiah Thomas, who in a way, are similar players (ball dominant PG's who likes to shoot)?

SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine

I think IT is a lot better off the ball than Rose is or ever was. If Butler runs a pick and roll he's going to get a lot more space with Thomas spotting up than with Rose spotting up.

Jimmy Butler for a 42 win Bulls team:  20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.6 steals, 45%/31%/83%
Ricky Davis for a 33 win Celtic team:  19.7 points, 5.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 46%/32%/79%

Neither made the playoffs.   Butler had former MVP Derrick Rose, 6x All-star Pau Gasol, last year's ROY runnerup Nikola Mirotic and a solid bench of players like Taj Gibson.

I wouldn't mind bringing in Butler, but I'm not overpaying for premium-brand Ricky Davis.

What a stretch

Id love Butler but I think it's doubtful our offer is the best they'll get anyways.

It would probably take something like

Bos sends: ab or smart, KO,brk pick, dallas pick or future non brk 1st

Which  I would do .

Leaves us with about 35-40 mil in cap space , leaving enough room to sign Durant and possibly add a Noah type vet for 10 mil+

IT                / Rozier
Butler           / AB or Smart
Durant        /  Crowder
Jerebko      / Mickey
Noah          / Amir

I would take my chances with that team, although might have to upgrade the PF spot at some point .

I'm not sure either  Butler or Dwight is likely,  but adding both this off-season would be pretty awesome. I worry that Dwight is a poor fit for Boston media,  but he'd address a lot of the teams weaknesses.

Yeah but no trade is ever likely. Chi is so mismanaged. They always seem to be so close, so lucky and yet never make the right move.

Howard really p---es me off I think as a person not a player. But you can't teach size. I thought Shaq was such a joke seconded only by the nba for letting him commit and O foul every play uncalled. But he got a lot of rings. Can't teach size. He isn't worth the max, but I wonder if we are going to be over the cap in any scenario in the next few years. it might not matter. If you look at him as an upgrade to Zeller and keep upgrading from there we could be really good.

Wow.  Living proof of how you can, indeed, tell whatever story you want by cherry picking statistics.

Here is another pair of 'career' numbers:

Ricky Davis, Career (13 seasons, 21927 minutes):  28.0 Win Shares
Jimmy Butler, Career (5 seasons, 10071 minutes):  35.5 Win Shares

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

In for a penny, in for a pound. You use the NG contracts of Amir and Jerebko to land another major rotation player.

If you're not going to play Crowder at PF, you might as well move him too. How much PT will he really see behind Durant?

Edit: or, you play Durant at PF as a stretch four, and slide Crowder into the starting lineup.

Bro, bro, bro...I just don't buy it...never have...never will...does not matter what numbers anyone cites...Davis should not be in the same sentence as Butler.
