I am in shock Kirk M was nominated. I think Michael Holley would be a way better nomination

I absolutely despise & hate the guy but its gotta be Felger.

Top rated drive show in Boston (which reflects more on how poor Boston sports radio has become) plus the cushy gigs at CSNNE.  He's all over the place.

My favorite is Jackie Mac.  She is EASILY the most talented sports journalist on this list.

But I gotta say, I think the person who really sets the tone and the conversation for most people in the Boston area is probably Felger.

Though Portnoy and Barstool probably play a larger role than I want to know.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Thread title and poll title are a little different.  "King" and "best" aren't the same.

Best I'd say is Jackie M and King is Felger
Yup

Definitely right on there being a distinction.  I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who says that Felger is the best media person out there.

Personally, I'm a huge Tom E. Curran fan for that.   Mike Reiss too.

i suppose this depends on how we define king.

i voted others and would nominate peter gammons. is there anyone more respected or experienced in boston sports than him?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

He makes the Mount Rushmore of Boston media. I loved reading his Sunday column.

The Globe sports section of the 1980s was the pinnacle of sportswriting.

I read it all through high school and then moved away from Boston in the late 1980s - not to anywhere mind you, to a series of other good/great sports towns (Philly, Chicago, SF, NYC).

And every time I remember spending my first month there thinking "This drivel is what sports fans here have to read every day?!?!"

Gary Tanguay.

And like that, my right to ever say anything ever again was taken away.

Simmons #1.  And it says lots that he lives all the way out in California.  The lack of basketball knowledge among the local media right now is ridiculous.  I think it's part of the reason the current players don't register yet with the average sports fan.

I'm warming up to Minehane.  He's pretty good.

Honestly, I think you're showing your Chicago colors right now. The tempature gas changed on Felger of late. He's not where he was 5 years ago
