Wizards dropping in standings, and could fall far fast.  The guy is 32, he'll be starting his decline in ~3 years as Wall/Beal/Porter/Morris are just beginning their primes.  Still a great player on a great contract, and fixes our biggest problem (size/Center).

Offer some combination of Jerebko, Zeller, Young, Rozier, RJ, Mickey, Clarke, DAL 1st, PHI 2nd (basically a late first), any BOS 1st, future MEM 1st.  Maybe even give up Sully or Amir?

If we could pull this off, and keep the BKN pick, I like our chances of attracting a max FA.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'd rather get Horford. Younger, better, and less costly (only cap space, no need to expend assets).

Agree, but I certainly don't want to go into FA with only 1 option and miss out.

Not to mention, the assets I'm talking about aren't very big, and there's no way we can keep ALL our assets.

If DA wanted him would have pursued him when he was FA

Wiz are 1-2 pieces away - they won't be giving away gortat unless they get clear upgrade

I would argue a team like the Celtics are 1-2 pieces away.

A team like the Wizards are much further.  They're 5 games away from being bottom 3 in the East with BKN and PHI.

Agreed, but Gortat wouldn't be a terrible fallback.

I've wanted Gortat since his Phoenix days.

As a backup, plan, sure. Gortat might slot into the C's available cap space, so might only take picks. [Edit: checked Gortat's salary for next year: it's $12 mil, and Boston should have almost $13 mil in starting cap space without renouncing anyone.]

Save expendable/filler contract for another trade down the line.

forget Gortat

If Durant really has no interest in Washington like is being reported , I could see them blowing it up in a year or 2 if they can't sign another all-star level player.

Wall and Beal would be the main targets on that team ....

I agree, I prefer Horford over Gortat.

Gortat isn't a bad consolation prize if the other big names aren't available though.  We really need a legit center.

Horford over gortat
Plus gortat is on a weird deal where he would be getting paid a lot
despite probably declining in play from age

They're also only seven games away from being ahead of us and tied for top three in the east.

Wall and beal better pieces than anything celts have. - wiz were right there last year and took backstep
Injuries and absence of pierce hurt rotation and chemistry

Put Stevens on that bench and they b tough

I honestly would take IT over Beal at this point
