Depends on how much he wants. If max, I doubt it

Oh man...

The things we could do with Al Horford as our big. I feel like paying him the max would be overpaying, though.

out of curiosity, how much would the max be for horford? and, how much cap room would it leave the celtics, assuming they let players go?

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It'd be the max, guaranteed. What's the max look like for Horford again?

Quote
All other teams can offer up to almost $107 million over 4 years ($25m to $26.125m to $27.25m to $28.375m with the 4.5% raises).

If he can draw Durant here, awesome, give him the max, whatever it is. If it's not a Horford-Durant combo, though, yikes, a slowly but steadily declining Horford at the max for four years is scary.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Mother of god I believe Horford's max is $30 million with a $25 million cap hold.
Yikes .
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

There was also a recent report that Horford is one of the guys that Durant would like to team up with this summer, or at least thinks would be a good match with himself. A lineup of IT, Bradley, Crowder, Durant, and Horford would be pretty freaking sick, especially if we could resign Turner for the second unit.

Misleading title -- this isn't Woj saying we have a great shot, it's Woj reporting that the Celts believe they have a great shot.   >:(

Yeah I hear ya but what are the Celts going to do with the cap money in the next 4 years anyways? Might as well overpay and then build through the draft picks to overlap the overpaid signings.

Horford does not want to play center though. He wants to stick with PF. Sully or Johnson should be at C

He plays C for Atlanta now doesn't he? I like him much more as the center than a PF, especially with the trend to go smaller now in the league.

As far as unrestricted free agents go (not counting players who might become free agents due to a player option or ETO), Horford is easily #2 behind Durant in terms of being worthy of the max.
