Seems clear that Love and Horford are Danny's dream targets for this deadline.
Cap is projected 92 mil.
Guys under contract:
Avery - 8.2 mil
Thomas - 6.6 mil
Crowder - 6.2 mil
Smart - 3.5 mil
Olynyk - 3 mil
Rozier - 1.9 mil
Young - 1.8 mil
Mickey - 1.2 mil
Hunter - 1.2 mil
Free agents:
Amir - 12 mil (non-guaranteed contract)
Jonas - 5 mil (non-guaranteed contract)
Zeller - 3.6 mil (restricted free agent)
Sully - 4.4 mil (restricted free agent)
Turner - free agent
Lee - free agent
New guys:
Horford - 18 mil (we'd need to resign him, but his cap hold is 18 mil, right?)
Love - 21.1 mil
... So i'll do some math. Say we either include our free agents in the trades to acquire Love/Horford or end up letting them walk this Summer (meaning Lee, Amir, Jerebko, Turner, Sully and Zeller). Total for guys still under contract = 33.6 mil. Add Love's 21.2 mil and the 18 mil cap hold for Horford and you have 72.8 mil. If the cap ends up 92 mil as expected, you're looking at roughly 19 mil to go after Durant. Seems we could easily free up a bit more cap space by also including someone like Young in one of the trades.
Seems this is doable. Especially if we're also giving up Avery Bradley (who I suspect we'd have to trade in a Kevin Love deal. He'd fit perfectly with the Cavs). And I'm assuming that we'd trade ALL of our picks (the 2016 1st in a deal for Love... the rest of the 1sts in the deal for Horford).
So say for instance we did the following deals:
Amir + Dallas 1st + Boston 1st + Philly 2nd for Horford
Lee + Bradley + Brooklyn 1st for Love (with Lee and Brooklyn 1st going to a 3rd team).
Then we let Turner, Sully, Zeller and Jerebko walk... Seems we could give Durant a max deal.
