So this could mean one of two things to me.  Either, Riley had no real interest in dealing with Ainge and asked for the Nets pick purposely to end the conversation...or GMs and front offices around the league don't value that Nets pick quite as highly as us fans do.

Because to ask for that Nets pick in exchange for a guy who is super immature and unpredictable both on and off the court and who, despite all of his blocked shots, the numbers show his team is actually WORSE defensively when he's on the floor...sounds insane.

What exactly were the "four firsts" Danny offered for Winslow? Probably the two mid-late 1sts from last year, another mid-late 1st from this year, and the Wolves "1st" that's really two 2nds. Right? Not as impressive as it sounds. I seriously doubt Ainge values Winslow more than the Nets 1st. Then again, yesterday we found out that Ainge supposedly values at least two of Isaiah-Jae-Marcus-Kelly-Avery each more than the Nets 1st. So maybe Riley read that same Himmelsbach article.  :-\

What is particularly interesting with Whiteside is that you aren't even trading for his bird rights. He essentially doesn't have any value to a team that doesn't think he can make them contenders this season. He's not the potential Howard/Horford situation where you can offer them more money than other teams.

Add in that he's a headcase and I can't imagine trading a late 1st round pick for him, let alone anything higher.

I wouldn't want to pay Whiteside long term.  Best shot blocker in the league but he makes a defense worse, great rebounder and his team rebounds worse when he's in the game.  Not sure Stevens would help him play better team ball.  Miami seems like a pretty high character, well coached team and Whiteside is who he is.
