These are all good points, but it seems like you are missing the biggest point of it all. The Celtics need a scorer. And I think if Love plays in Stephen's system, he could average 20 points a game. If KO can play defense in this system, I think Love can as well. I would laugh if Clev. was dumb enough to trade Bradley and Anderson for Love. This is the same person they traded Wiggins away for.

Some food for thought...

Avery Bradley
PPG:  15.1
FG%: 44.1%
3PT%: 37.4%
FT%: 77.5%
FG% inside 3 feet: 66.4%
Age: 25
Salary: $7M/yr

Kevin Love
PPG:  15.7
FG%: 41.7%
3PT%: 36.8%
FT% 80.1%
Age: 27
Salary: $20M/yr

One of those guys:
* Is 25 years old
* Is showing signs of improvement
* Has a well documented team-first attitude with outstanding work ethic
* Is a former All-Defensive Team member
* Has 20 games of playoff experience for his career
* Has played in 76% of possible games over the past three seasons
*Is owed about $24M over the next 3 years

The other:
* Is 27 years old
* Is showing obvious signs of decline
* Has a well documented history for having a questionable attitude
* Has a reputation as a terrible defender (even though stats suggest otherwise)
* Has a played in 69% of possible games the past three years
* Has 4 games of playoff experience for his career
* Is owed about $110M over the next 5 years

You still want to make that deal?

You forget to mention that Lebron and Irving dominate the ball in an iso offense. Love is not being used the way he should he does not fit their offense. In Boston under Stevens he comes a lot closer to his numbers in Minny. Bradley has never sniffed the type of numbers Love has put up. If Bradley played for the Cavs he is not going to avg 15 points a game.

Well Sherrod has weighed in!

The particulars of the deal are still in the discussion phase, but the end result if it comes to pass would send Love to Boston, according to a league source.

If love ends up here what happens with horford.  Is he still a target?

We could realistically get both Love and Horford or Love and Howard if we want to go for it. We have the assets to do so.

To Boston: Love

To Cleveland: Bradley, Anderson, some lesser picks

To NO: Lee, BOS 2016 1st

I'm in
My guess is that the Cavs will want one of our Nets picks.

Otherwise this trade is too good to be true.

I've been saying for weeks a deal with NO sending Cleveland Anderson and Cleveland sending Love to Boston make a ton of sense. Cleveland needs more but this is a logical move. Anderson plays the role they want love to play better. Than get another contributor as well.

Maybe a guy like Rudy Gay in addition to Anderson makes the cavs mive love. Or maybe Pau gasol. Obviously horford if Atlanta was serious about moving him for a fair return and not some "ransom" of an offer.

I swear, it's like Sherrod fired up the NBA Trade Machine and figured out that this works:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hks37ph

It actually feels like fairly balanced value with a low first-rounder or two thrown Cleveland's way. Which is a surefire sign it's not going to happen.

I'm hearing that's the hold up the year of the picks.

OK, here is my very complicated but workable trade:

Boston
Out:  Crowder, Bradley, Jerebko
In:    Love, Sasha Kaun

CLE
Out:  Love, Cunningham, Kaun
In:    Bradley, Anderson, Jerebko

NOP
Out:  Anderson
In:    Crowder, Cunningham

I think CLE is the loser in this but Bradley and Anderson are pretty good and Jerebko adds some depth.  I wouldn't believe it if it wasn't for the rumors.  I think Crowder for Anderson is fair (Cunningham is filler).  We could add say the Dallas pick for CLE to balance out some.

Crowder, Bradley, and Dallas Pick for Love is still not a bad deal for the Celtics.

Would rather have Love and Gasol.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
This means that Cleveland may actually just take the Brooklyn pick. or we may actually be keeping the Brooklyn pick.
Coz the Pellies aren't getting it for Mr Mediocre Ryan Anderson.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Deal doesn't have to be complicated. The workable framework is as follows: Love to Boston, Lee and Anderson to Cleveland, $8 million of salary to New Orleans. With some picks changing hands too.

I'd much rather give NO Jerebko and Sullinger than Bradley, but I am not sure they'll take on 2 years of salary.

Pure Sherrod speculation, but the framework of this makes tons of sense.

I feel like Crowder and Love are pretty similar in value as of right now. Obviously if Love plays better in a different system, his value can be much greater than Crowder's. Just not sure I like giving up current value and then some.

Why would Cleveland trade Love for Anderson, who is a downgrade?  To save money?  Not if they want to actually re-sign Anderson.

Cleveland would have to be getting something in addition to Anderson, probably multiple players that would help them match up better with the Warriors / Spurs.  Picks aren't going to greatly interest a team that wants to compete for titles in the short term.
