The Daily News has learned that the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a blockbuster trade centered around Kevin Love. There were very preliminary discussions about expanding the deal to include the Knicks and Anthony, who would have to waive his no-trade clause in order to facilitate a deal to the Cavs.

Love would be perfect in the stevens offense.

Melo to cavs
Love to bos
2017 or 18 nets pick to ny

As for the Boston, the Knicks long time rivals have the assets that appeal to them. Celtics GM Danny Ainge has always been aggressive about adding a star and is intrigued by Anthony. For now, the Celtics are focused on Love, who signed an extension with the Cavs last summer.

Would do this in a heartbeat but I think you would need more picks.

Does this guy have any credibility?

A deal like this would obviously include the 2016 Brooklyn pick from our end in addition to other assets.

I still think people around here are overrating that pick's value.  In Simmons most recent NBA podcast he asked his guest whether the Jazz would considering giving up Gordan Hayward for both that pick AND the Dallas 1st.  They came to the consensus that it wouldn't be worth it for the Jazz, because that pick ultimately might not be that good.  Simmons said getting Hayward for the Brooklyn 1st would be his dream scenario.

I prefer Horford in that scenario, because you could play Horgord farther out for spacing when you wanted to post up Love.

Was just gonna post the Howard idea too. Man we would destroy the cavs with that line up.

The best thing about this deal is that I'm not even sure that Carmelo would be an upgrade for them. If you think Love was not down for a lesser role, how do you think Carmelo will handle that?? Also, that just adds one more iso-heavy offensive player to that starting lineup. There's no way there are enough touches to satisfy and fully take advantage of three ball-dominant stars in Melo, Lebron, and Irving.

Kevin Love + HOrford.... pipe dream scenario?  How would they fit?

I like the fit. Horford provides enough spacing to let Love work down low where Clevekand has really misused him.
