He will be 19 in the 2017-2018 season. It's just one season without him, and he can keep developing in his enviroment in europe. It's also great cause we can keep a lot of our guys, and use other picks, by stashing him for a year.

Here's a recent interview, he seems really mature, talks almost perfect english, he's 18.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEFuOgPv2os&feature=youtu.be

In his latest game, after an ankle injury, in 17 minutes he scored 12 points (4/6 for 2, 1/3 for 3, 1/1 FT) with 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks.

I think he is the pick at 3, if we are lucky enough to get that pick.

Nice to see this as official news. I generally think this works well since many were afraid that it may be a few years and that would be a lot to ask of a team taking him #3.

With all our picks, it might not be the worst thing if he didn't come over right away.

If we are picking 3rd even knowing he won't come over for a year I don't think there is a better option than Bender.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Actually, I read somewhere that it was the case, but he actually doesnt say it in the interview. He just says that he isnt nba ready yet, so probably wont come over.

Wish Porzingas had done this a couple of years ago....We'd have him instead of James Young.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I don't think this is official.

It's not, I read the vertical article a few weeks ago. He has a very easy buyout and if this was true it would be all over Twitter.

Anyways, not official, sorry if I made it look that way. But it's the most likely path, and one that beneficiates us I think. I guess I just hope he does that, basing on him saying he's not nba ready, but he's obviously entering the draft, since he is a top 5 pick for sure, and he wants to play in the nba.

It wouldn't be the worst thing to have more time to evaluate the roster next year before inserting a top 3 pick into it. Still think if we pick Bender we might have to decide if Olynyk is too redundant before we choose whether or not to sign him to an offer sheet.

Love Kelly and I'm high on Bender but I'm not sure I'd want them both on the roster.

Outside of landing Simmons or Ingram I actually think drafting Bender and leaving him over seas for one season would be the best possible outcome for the Celtics. DA has been very good at filling a roster with valuable depth by leaving roster space available and letting Bender grow it will only help the Cs long term. It may also help Bender in that he will not feel the pressure of needing to come in and earn minutes on a playoff team at a young age.

IDK, i prefer spending the 3rd pick on a less risky prospect.

I'd love to use the #3 pick as a draft and stash for Bender. We know we'll struggle for roster spots next year and he has the potential to be the best Euro player we've seen

He does not play like a #3 pick
