I truly believe Ainge is exploring a Harden deal and has been since the beginning of last year.  Every single Brooklyn pick is on the table, except for the 2017 right to swap.

I think the Howard & Horford rumors are just fodder.  Harden is the closer Ainge wants for his team, and the frustration for Houston is boiling over.  Will they give him up ?  I think it's 50/50.

Ainge could very well get his man soon.  But for what ?

Does Houston look at Smart, Sullinger, Crowder, and the 2 Brooklyn firsts as a starting point ?

I doubt he is available.  He's not the one that could walk away from the Rockets this summer for nothing.

We don't "need" Harden even though he would be a nice piece to have on this team. This squad lacks a true big man under the basket, which is why a trade for either Horford or Howard would make better sense than trading for Harden.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

If you can get Harden, you get him.   Forget fit.  The Celtics need a star of that level.

He just isn't going to be available.

Horford and Howard are available primarily, because their teams realize there's a very good shot they will leave them high and dry this Summer.

They are in our position last year with Rondo.  All signs pointed to Rondo bailing for the Lakers.  We had to get something for him while we could.

Harden, now that would be fun.  Going along with the slim chance that there is a chance, I would trade IT (all star), the 2 BKN picks (likely lottery for both), Turner, and Amir.  That just might get it done.  We may have to take something else back to make roster slots work.

I put in IT because I think long term, keeping Smart and Crowder is better as they seem to me to fit better with Harden.  I would not have a problem including Sullinger but he may not have that much value to Houston.

I love how this was created literally minutes before the report came out that the Rockets were asking around to see what they could get for Dwight.

I'd definitely consider a package built around IT, 2 Brooklyn picks, Lee and Sully. Throw them Hunter or Young too. Imagine a lineup of:

KO/Zeller
Amir/Jerebko
Crowder/Turner
Harden/Bradley
Smart

Deadly 9 man rotation and Crowder/Smart/Bradley would be enough defensively to make up for Harden's shortcomings.

Am I the only one that threw up a little reading this trade suggestion?

Ew, ew, double ew.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

No, lol.

That said, he's probably the 3rd best point forward at this point behind LeBron and Green.  If only he could stop being non-existent on defense and become less streaky/more efficient on offense.

Harden is not a forward.
