Lee + Sully or Oly for Horford doesn't work on the machine...

they would need to send back ~$6M additional salary.
who would that be?

also i don't want to trade Oly...
he's my binky

hmm probably sefelosha and filler

People are acting as if giving the max to Horford is ridiculous.

Players are getting overpaid, that's just the gist of what has been the normal occurrence. I would certainly give Horford the max if he could possibly lure any free agent, and who knows? Horford might be the one extra cog or gear that this team needs to propel past the possibility of a first round exit.

Plus, we have IT, Crowder, and Bradley locked up on relatively cheap contracts so we can afford to overpay.  And with the cap going way up again in 2017, that max contract won't look so bad.

Atlanta can take back $5 mil more than they send out.

If it's Lee + Sully, then sending back two min contracts (any two of Muscala, Holiday, or Patterson) would make the deal work.

If it's Lee + KO, then only one of Muscala or Holiday needs to come back with Horford.

How about..

BOS: Lee, Sullinger, Young (or Hunter, whoever you like less), 2016 Dallas 1st, 2016 Miami 2nd

ATL: Horford, Korver, Holiday

If Atlanta really doesn't think Horford is coming back it's hard to imagine they do better than this deal. Sullinger is a 10/10 guy with consistent minutes who's only 23, still improving and under RFA control. Young is a raw sweet shooting wing who I think could find a niche in Atlanta with Bud. He's kind of like a replacement for late-1st, and the Dallas pick which seems likely to be just outside the lottery. Rumor was that they're open to trading Korver too, and the C's could certainly use a guy with his stroke to help keep the offense running. Holiday is a young, fairly unheralded guy you take a flyer on to fill Young's spot. I think we'll start struggling a little more on the boards without Sully though.

Question is, if Sully is the only rotation player going out in the deal, and Horford is obviously going to play more minutes than Sully has, who loses theirs? If you could get Korver he's gotta take minutes too. Jerebko's? Turner's? Amir and AB?

Or a 3rd team could get involved, or we could give up more and get Korver back as well.

If Denver is so inclined, I think that they could outbid us.

They could offer Faried and JJ Hickson and they have a bunch of conditional first rounders this year, at least one of which will likely convey, in addition to their own.

Both Faried and Hickson are young guys and Hickson is an expiring who can still play but hasn't gotten time because of the young bigs Nuggets have.

is there some kind of a guarantee Horford re-signs in Boston?

we would have his bird rights to sign him to the most money, and still have room to add another max contract, plus a likely top 5 pick to make this team even stronger . I have to believe he would re-sign for a max contract ....

team could look something

IT           / Smart
AB         / Young
Jae         / Simmons
Horford    / KO
Howard    / ?

or Durant , Derozen , Wade instead of Howard

or instead of a max split it up by signing Noah (Horfords fellow big man who won 2 ncaa titles together ) and Batum or someone like that
