Late 80s. Definitely.

1983 would've been a banner summer for "blow it up" threads.
Well the C's did add Dennis Johnson after that debacle
yes, but people would be saying "you're a fool if you think you can get DJ for Rick Robey.  You're going to need to include Mchale and Parish or Bird and the  3 1st round draft picks" --> no Stepien rule at that time so the desire by some to throw away draft picks would have been a lot greater.

Numerous threads on what a great job the Clippers are doing in stockpiling talent (Manning, Benjamin, etc.). Sterling and Baylor are geniuses. The Clippers are the future of the NBA. The Clippers have more assets than the Celtics.

 ;D

Gee I wonder who you might be referring to.

TP for making me laugh.

Trade Proposal: McHale to Knicks for Gerald Wilkins and #5 pick.  McHale has hit his ceiling, won't play defense, and we can use #5 to draft KENNY WALKER (DraftExpress #4 prospect) and secure our wings of the future.  Just look at these highlights!  Sure-fire All-Star at minimum.

I remember in the late 80's there was a trade rumor of Robert Parish to Seattle for Michael Cage and Xavier McDaniel.  Would have made for interesting discussion.

Also, there was a rumored deal that had Boston sending Brian Shaw to Sacramento for Wayman Tisdale (which actually made ESPN on draft night - can't remember the year - maybe 1990).

I can't imagine how people would have looked at the team in 1987 - Bias' death, Walton being done, and the decline of the bench (Fred Roberts & Darren Daye) - who knows if the internet pressure would have done anything to accelerate a McHale trade...

A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.

Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the final buzzer sounds.

Cheers mate.   No idea how the op found that stuff.   Cool to see them talk pretty much like we do today.

Well I would debate that.  People who had computers and were on the internet in 86 were probably the more educated of the bunch.   Using them at schools or whatever.  Less agenda driven too. Today everyone has a computer and it's not always the most educated. There is also a lot of baloney on the internet nowadays and it's driven by people looking for attention.  Particularly the media itself.
