Cleveland obviously rejected the trade, but Kobe has said he wouldn't have gone to Cleveland which would have stopped the trade had Cleveland actually accepted it.  Cleveland says it is the only time a team has ever made an offer for James in either stint in Cleveland.  At the time, Kobe had two years left on his contract and the Lakers were in the midst of the down period post-Shaq pre-Gasol. 

Imagine how much different those franchises would have looked if that trade had actually been completed.
