Seems Morris and Goodwin had an altercation during the game with the Warriors. I'm looking at this at work without headphones so I don't know what is being said.

This guy is a cancer to a locker room, your brother got traded dude, you still earn $8m a year!!

There's still quite a few people on here who seem keen on bringing him in while his value is "low". Still feeling that way?

He's a hothead, but Goodwin is the one who escalated that situation.

Why what happened?

Morris has been asked to be a leader by Phoenix's new coach.

So, Goodwin starts the game against the Warriors terribly. Mental mistakes, bad effort. Goodwin is on the bench. Markieff comes up to him, barking. We don't know if he was blaming Goodwin, trying to coach him, or trying to get him fired up.

Regardless, Goodwin didn't take it well. They seem to slap at each other's hands (the camera is blocked here) and then Goodwin gets up and lashes out at Markieff aggressively. Markieff seems calm when teammates intervene; Goodwin keeps going at him.

What happened before that?

Looked like Markieff was giving Goodwin a telling off for something he did wrong. And that Goodwin reacted badly to that criticism.

Is that what happened? Was Markieff right to confront Goodwin?
Or was there a lack of cause and Markieff was wrong to start situation?

TP, thanks for the extra info. It certainly looks like Goodwin is the more wound up one but I'm not sure I can accept that Morris was just teaching. Morris full on shoves Goodwin back and then starts barking at him. He's got to be smarter and realise his position in the locker room. If he wants to be a leader, it has to be by example and by encouragement, he needs to be very careful with everything he says to his team mates.

As described on the Suns blog:

Quote
Archie started the game about as bad as one could. He let Tyson’s opening tip sail past him out of bounds. He let Curry get an uncontested offensive board and clear space for the putback jumper. He had a few bad offensive plays too. Meanwhile, Markieff was killing it out there making the right plays and shots.

Then this happened in the timeout.

It sounds like Markieff was in the right then.

Coached should have pulled Goodwin immediately with the lack of effort

Goodwin has been a rare bright spot for the Suns after looking like a lost pick in his early days in the league. Disappointing to see him cave to their overall bad habits. Gotta be a tough time for Ryan McDonagh right now.

Is he part of the problem?  Both the Morris brothers and Dragic have said that the front office lied to them.  He's traded IT4 for poor value.  He moved a likely top-5 lottery pick for Brandon Knight.  He blew cap space on Tyson Chandler.  He fired a good coach largely due to personnel decisions that he himself made as GM.

Ryan McDonagh is the worst GM in the league. Will is rolling around in his grave.

I didn't see a choke in the replay.  But I do see Morris towering over a seated Goodwin on the bench during a timeout, Goodwin trying to get up (maybe extending an arm to create space, but not with much force) and then Morris shoving him with two hands.  I don't think it's a huge deal if it weren't with Morris, but no, he was not in the right.  It's one thing to say your piece, it's another thing to shove a guy who's not standing upright through a crowded bench area.  Goodwin easily could have been injured by that.
