Woj: The Knicks are the clear winners on the first day of the trade deadline frenzy. In an attempt to reload around Carmelo Anthony, Jackson has managed to nab an All-Star point guard, two high-end, two-way role players, and a former defensive player of the year to surround their own All-Star in Carmelo Anthony. Additionally, all of this was completed without giving up any future picks down the road (only ones gained from Boston). The Knicks current roster is stacked and is now considered the favorite to win the Eastern Conference title, in addition to now being the front-runners in the glorious race for Kevin Durant this summer:

Woj: The Houston Rockets have sent Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, and their 2017 1st round pick to the New York Knicks for Robin Lopez, Aaron Afflalo, Derrick Williams, Dallas 2016 1st, and New York's 2017 1st round pick (has the ability to swap this pick with the better of Boston's and Brooklyn's 1st round pick in 2017).

I thought Boston had the Dallas 2016 first??

Rockets front office confirms the Howard trade. They want to stay competitve and are still building around Harden. Which is why they opted not only for picks but for players under contract in Robin, Affalo and Williams. They were not willing to risk losing Howard in FA.
