He has a broken foot and probably won't play again this season.
We have the assets and the depth to acquire someone who won't play this season.
Let's say Amir and JJ and picks (ours and Dallas?...) for Gasol. Probably not enough for Memphis, though.
Any thoughts?

We could put Olynyk with Sullinger in starting five and have Zeller and Lee (or Mickey) as the bigs coming off the bench until the end of the season.

Not a bad premise to begin with.

I think with Gasol getting injured what Memphis is going to do is reload.  AROUND Gasol and Conley.  Wave goodbye to Zbo, love, green etc.  Anyone that can be traded for young assets or draft picks besides gasol and Conley.  Kiss this year goodbye and get ready for next year.

Makes some sense, but I'm not sure they can keep Conley, who will be a free agent (I think) in high demand.
Anyway, we should pay attention to their situation - either they want someone now to make a run in the playoffs, and we should try to pry Gasol away from them, or they give this year as lost and we may get some interesting pieces... well, not sure they have any...
Because as they are now, and without Gasol, no way they resist the first round of the playoffs.
