I love Sanders' game, but....
The guy walked away from A LOT of $$$.
I guess that could be looked upon admirably...or....like someone who makes bad choices after bad choices.
Still love to try him out on a make-good contract. I like him better than Whiteside in terms of value.
Look at it this way: the dude already made away with 35 million, plus probably some endorsement money.
He was 26, in the prime of his life, with more money than he knew what to do with.
He probably wants time to enjoy it now, rather than when he's in his mid-thirties.
He's still getting paid ~2.2 million a year, to sit around his house and smoke herb (which apparently he couldn't do as much as he wanted to in the NBA).
No need to be greedy and go for all the money he can make, especially if he doesn't want/need to support a large entourage (which is pretty stupid when you think about it).
Enjoy life now because it's short. If he wants, he can always come back and make another 35 million, or more depending on how long he waits (assuming he doesn't let himself completely go in the meantime).
