Boston Celtics currently rank #6. Thoughts?
Great to see us that high, and don't really see any clear cut teams that should be ranked higher.

I was surprised to see the Clippers ranked below us but otherwise I don't see anyone else who should be ranked higher than the Celtics right now, especially how they've played as of late.

Obviously they can't keep winning 90% of their games but if they can go 19-10 the rest of the season, they'll hit 50 wins. I think that's a lofty goal for this crew but its certainly not unreasonable.

With the Clippers losing by double digits to the 76ers right now, I guess this is fair.  Maybe that will someday translate to a star wanting to sign with us.

I think that's about right. Warriors, Spurs, Thunder are clearly ahead of Boston; I think we need more than one win over Cleveland to move ahead of them; and Boston is 0-2 against Toronto this season.

At this point, what is the definition of a "Contender", and do we fit that description. I think we have a shot at the ECF.

ESPN ranks us well just prior to every losing streak we've had. Hoping for the best.

Haven't been following the 76's, but if I remember correctly, they threw a scare into the Warriors (losing by 2) about a week ago. Is it time to reassess our assessment of this team? Anyone know if they've made a jump in their play of late?

Ish Smith has been their IT. Not as good of a player obviously but he's rejuvenated them a bit, at least to their standards

It's amazing what having even one competent ballhandler can do for a team full of centers and D-Leaguers.

And if we hit 50 and do well in the playoffs, we will be rooting for Kevin Durant next year.

It's pretty amazing that the Celts are #6.  I think it's a defensible ranking.

Really says a lot about the job Brad Stevens has done to get the most out of this group.  Also says a lot about the gap between the top 4 teams and the rest.  The Celts are a clear step down from Toronto but still on a similar level.  But OKC and Cleveland (even w/ Friday's miraculous victory) are in a separate category.  Golden State and San Antonio are in a different stratosphere.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Computer rankings (ESPN BPI, Sagarin, 538) all put us 7th.  We're 5 games back of both Toronto and the Clippers in the overall standings.  I think there's a pretty clear top 6, and we're not yet in it.  We're perhaps the best of the next tier, including Memphis, Indiana, Miami, Chicago and Atlanta.  Lots of BB still to play, so we'll see how it all shakes out.
