Ok...we are ten days from the trade deadline...and there's been some rumors about these two players.

Considering:

What it would reasonably cost to acquire

and

What they bring to the table

Which player do you pursue in a "quietly aggressive" manner?

True.  In a bubble, Jabari all the way.  The rookie contract is a big difference.

I think Jabari would cost at least the Brooklyn pick.   I think you could get Harris without giving up the Brooklyn pick.  He's one of those guys who probably got re-signed so his team didn't lose him for nothing.  THey were on the fence about paying him long-term and they have guys on the bench who can fill his spot.  You can probably grab harris for an expiring contract and a couple later 1sts.

I'd be willing to give up more for Jabari, due to cost and potential upside.

Maybe Jabari is never as good as Tobias, but given his draft pedigree I think he could end up significantly better.  Tobias is what he is.

Neither guy has shown themselves to be better than Jae Crowder.

Exactly. MIL wants way more for Parker than ORL does for Harris. I'd rather have Harris and the BKN pick than Parker and the far-less-valuable assets it would take to get Harris.

Tobias' contract restricts flexibility this Summer too much. I think it's more likely that Danny would pursue Jabari.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

But Tobias is the better player currently

I think this has become sort of the knee-jerk response about trades before the deadline.

If Ainge can consolidate some mid-level assets into a very good, young NBA player under contract for a number of years, he'll do it. That's exactly what he'd hope to achieve this summer anyway with said flexibility.

What he won't do is trade for a past-their-prime player under contract for next season or beyond who WON'T improve the team or help attract FAs this summer (read: Kevin Martin). Harris isn't in that category.

I am going to go with Tobias Harris over Jabari Parker. I don't think J.Parker's ceiling is high enough over Tobias Harris to pass up on the proven talent of Tobias Harris.

Neither of them are much of an upgrade on what we have now at the 4 and 5, and those are our weakest positions.  Why bother
