Good old Blakely at it again

Why not just trade Cousins and keep Karl? or vice versa?

Anyways,  one thing I agree regarding all of this is, Cousins will be traded by the trade deadline.

Along with Gay, Rondo

And the Celtics will not be part of any of it.

Kings and Lakers trade

I can see the Lakers make a move

To Lakers: Cousins, Curry, Anderson
To Kings: Hibbert, Randle, Clarkson, 2016 1st

Lakers try to build their future with Cousins and Russell

2nd trade- Rockets and Kings

To Rockets: Gay , Rondo
To Kings: Lawson, Brewer,  Terrence Jones

If Karl stays put, he gets to work with Lawson again. Kings pickup Jones (future rebuild)

Kings lineup after trade

WCS
Randle
Tjones
Mclemore
Clarkson/Lawson

plus you get the Lakers 1st and with your own pick get a chance to grab Simmons or Ingram. Karl gets back to playing fast pace ball.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Blakely is an idiot.

If Karl is fired, they'll do their best to find a coach that Cousins likes.
Can't see why they'd trade Cousins after his recent stretch of monster games.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Doesn't the Lakers 2016 #1 pick convey to the Sixers if LAL pick is not among the top 3?

The first thing I noticed. Why in the world would Sacramento take their 2016 pick if it's top 3 protected omg....

Well, if it is top 3, the Lakers keep and exercise it in 2016 draft and then Lakers' 1st round pick in 2017 draft would convey to Sixers.  Of course, if Cousins is traded, Kings are in full rebuild and would surely demand a very high 2016 pick, which the Lakers cannot guarantee.  I rather doubt they would be willing to wait until June of 2017 to finally make the acquired pick!

Firing Karl would be no indication that the Kings care to move Cousins -- which they don't -- whatsoever.

Blakely is a yutz.

A Harden/Rondo backcourt in Houston would be hilarious.

I love Blakely.  My favorite moment was when the Rondo rumors were coming out the day he actually got traded.  Blakely went on Comcast Sports Net and said nothing is going to happen, probably nothing until the all star break.  Literally an hour later the trade was announced....

The Lakers can't trade their 2016 pick.  The earliest first they can trade is 2020, due to protection.  Or it can be worded to be the pick two years after they convey their current traded protected pick, so 2018.  If the Lakers get a pick high enough to keep, they would have to agree to a deal before the draft, select whoever the Kings tell them to, and make the deal official at some point after the pick is officially made.

Because of the pick situation for the Lakers (greater chance it goes to Sixers than them), I have to imagine we would have a better package for Cousins should he become available...which still seems highly unlikely. I wish there was more substance to this Blakely piece.

On a related note, I am really ready for this trade deadline to come and go. I love the excitement, but it has felt extremely hollow so far. We could either end up with Griffin/Cousins or just a simple buy-out of Lee - really extreme sides of things.

I think the reason

They won't be anxious to fire him ,is they may find it difficult to find a coach willing to risk his reputation and take on the job in such a hostile environment with such a terrible history.

Not to mention fans may be getting fed up with all this and just stop supporting the team, firing another decent coach might set off backlash effect

I remember remors that Karl wanted to trade Cousins first thing as HD was hired.   ......that wouldn't have got the relationship off to a good start.
