Quote
The Boston Celtics have inquired about the availability of Al Horford and Jeff Teague.

The Celtics have a considerable number of trade assets to facilitate a trade.

"Atlanta, I've been told, is ready to turn the page, to give the team to Dennis Schroeder, their young point guard, who is ready to step up and be a starter," Mannix said. "Teague is available because Teague has some value. He has another year left on his contract, about $8 million per year, and teams across the league are looking to get him.

"I've heard that Boston's inquired about several players with Atlanta, Teague and Al Horford. Teague might seem like a weird fit with this team because they already have point guards but he is an asset, he's someone the Celtics could be interested in. Horford, a little more difficult. It would be a gamble going after Al Horford because Al Horford is in the last year of his deal and he's going to command a salary north of $20 million next year. But as we know and as I just said, Danny Ainge is a gambling GM. He could make a move like that too."

Horford Yes, Teague is up for a big pay day soon and we are solid at PG so no thanks

I don't want Teague either.  Horford would be nice.

In a different thread, I suggested Bradley and AJ plus Dallas 2016 as a package for Teague and Horford. It was difficult for me to determine what is fair value given the uncertainty of Horford's future team choice.

if it's ab, sully, filler  and picks (other than brk 2016 )

our roster would look like

pg: Thomas       / Rozier
sg: Smart          / Young or Hunter
SF: CROWDER   / Turner
PF: KO              / Lee
 C: Horford       / Amir

in the east that team can reach the ECF

I agree, but I also think that the team as currently constituted is an underdog contender to make the ECF (if they can avoid Cleveland in Round 2).

It's nice just to have a rumor.  I've missed them.

From NESN: http://nesn.com/2016/01/report-celtics-inquired-about-hawks-al-horford-jeff-teague-as-trade-targets/

“I’ve heard that Boston’s inquired about several players with Atlanta, Teague and Al Horford,” Mannix added. “Teague might seem like a weird fit with this team because they already have point guards, but he is an asset, He’s someone the Celtics could be interested in. “Horford, a little more difficult. It would be a gamble going after Al Horford because Al Horford is in the last year of his deal and he’s going to command a salary north of $20 million next year. But as we know and as I just said, (president of basketball operations) Danny Ainge is a gambling GM. He could make a move like that, too.”

I don't know if Horford is the guy I would cash in some chips for, especially since he's a FA. Maybe Ainge has a shot at grabbing him for Lee's contract and a couple of late 1sts/early 2nds

they probably want at least 1 brk pick ,dallas pick , bradley or crowder, and sully or ko

do you do that trade for Horford?

They don't ask for a BRK pick because Horford is an expiring contract. He can walk in 6 months. If they get a mid/late first rounder they'll be lucky.
Teague is more valuable then Horford because at least he's on his $8 million contract for one more year.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

No expert but im prerty sure you have to give up more than lee and a first for al. More than 20 teams will make offers for him.

It's very dangerous to trade for a pending free agent right now since there will be so many teams with cap space. Usually a star free agent only has so many options, now there will be too many to count.

I was thinking Lee, our 1st, Dallas 1st, and 3 2nds, but yeah, I don't think we would get it done without including Nets picks. I wouldn't want to move Nets picks for Horford.
