Didn't see a dedicated thread about it.  In his Friday Rollin podcast with Joe House today, they asked whether or not Crowder, Avery Bradley and the 2016 Brooklyn 1st would be enough for Blake Griffin.   They both decided Boston would have to do it if the Clippers would take it.

Thoughts?

Blake Griffin is one of the ten best players in the league. You write a blank check for a top ten player.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Assuming there aren't a any issues with Blake not on the public record that our front office knows about, yes. Absolutely.

While this may be true, he poses some difficulties for lineup construction.

Yeah they mentioned that towards the end of last season, Blake looked like a top 3 player... so you basically give up anything it takes to get him.

They also suggested that his stats could actually be better if a team ran the ball through him and he wasn't playing next to D'Andre Jordan.

An excellent read.

Lowe's stuff is always excellent. Having watched Blake Griffin, and read what Lowe has to say/listened to his pods, I really believe that Blake can be that one man offense on a team where he can serve as more of a facilitator. A frontcourt of Blake and KO paired with a backcourt of Smart and another defensive stud would be deadly.

He was playing the LeBron role, right? Point forward/one man offense.

We have the right assets, a good history with The Clippers and Doc as a trade partner,  and unlike the Kevin Love situation we're on the other side of the country so they don't have to worry about seeing Blake 10 times a year.

Think Blake would fit in well with us, every time Chris Paul goes out the offense runs through Blake (and vise versa) he racks up a ton of assists for a PF and good things happen. Having Isaiah free to score at will and Blake to attack and distribute from the mid post could absolutely work.

Griffin's the closest thing to Karl Malone the league has seen, he's incredible in the pick and roll. The proposed deal would make us a fringe contender over night. I've got faith that Rozier can grow into Bradley's roll and as tough as losing Crowder would be, Denzel Valentine out of Michigan State would be just the type of player to eventually fill that void.

Part of that package would have to include Pierce.

The Boston Celtics could build an offer that appears to help the Clippers in both the short and long term: Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, one big man and two first-round picks -- including one of Brooklyn's unprotected picks.

Think it's not a stretch to imagine Sullinger as the other big man in the deal, Doc was clearly involved in the descsion to pick him and he'd be a decent fit next to Deandre Jordan. He can shoot and hit free throws and play center if they are forced to bench Deandre from Hack a Jordan.

Blake and Kelly would be nice and maybe Jordan Mickey could eventually develop into Griffin's ideal front court mate leaving Kelly to run the bench unit.

Would rather give them Sully than Bradley. I feel like Bradley has no value to their team with the logjam at the guard spots (CP3, Rivers, Redick, Crawford, Stephenson).

Maybe throw in another first to make it work, and get back Pierce. Probably gotta give them Lee to make salary work (fine by me)
Leaves us with:

Olynyk/Johnson
Griffin/Jerebko
Turner/Pierce
Bradley/Smart
Thomas/Rozier

That team could beat Cleveland IMHO

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'd want to keep one of Crowder or Bradley, preferably Crowder.
But I'd do it anyway.
Blake's numbers last year in playoffs vs Spurs and Rockets:
25.5 points
12.3 rebounds
6.1 assists
1 block
1 steal

True thug life right there.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Evem if you have to give up both Avery, and Crowder so be it.

If Durant signed here it would be game over. If not then target Valentine, Levert, Or just resign Turner.

 Kelly
 Blake Griffin
 Durant
 Smart
 Thomas

That team would destroy the east. More Realistic.

 Kelly
 Blake
 Turner
 Smart
 Thomas

And we still have are whole farm system like we are the Pawsox or something.

Rozier, Hunter, Mickey, Young, Hopefully Rozier and Mickey are players.

Just like the New York Knicks did to get a hold of Carmelo Anthony?
